In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I'm proud of the work we've accomplished in my ten years on the Shoreline City Council. We've transformed the city, bringing new housing development and mandating affordable housing, built sidewalks and parks, and increased the social safety net. We’ve made great strides in affordability, nonmotorized and mass transit, and environmental protection. And we’ve done all that while maintaining a balanced budget, healthy reserves, and a fair tax system.
I want to bring the Shoreline style of government to Olympia: Progressive, respectful, and focused on real change. In addition to my elected experience, I’ve been a lawyer for nearly 30 years. I’ve served as a King County Deputy Prosecutor, prosecuted war crimes for the United Nations, been the legal director of an environmental nonprofit (Futurewise), represented citizens and citizens’ groups in environmental litigation, and for the last 15 years have been doing intellectual property litigation. My first career was as a paramedic in the at-the-time most diverse county in the United States, Hudson County in New Jersey.
In Olympia, I’ll be focused on bringing state spending under control, progressive tax reform, education funding, and protecting our environment. I look forward to working with you on all of those things.
