Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Kayla grew up in the 35th District in Charleston. She was raised by generations of West Virginian coal miners and teachers. She graduated from Kanawha County public schools and later West Virginia University where she studied Political Science, Public Relations, and Integrated Marketing Communications.
Kayla is a mom and small business owner and her platform includes promoting a clean West Virginia, diversifying the economy, and building strong communities.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Promoting a Clean West Virginia -- My son was born days after the WV Water Crisis. No one should have to go any length of time without clean water because of government bowing down to coal executives. Diversifying our Economy -- I had to start my own businesses due to the lack of opportunity in our state. We deserve better.Building Strong Communities -- We are only as strong as our most vulnerable populations.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
As a leader of a women's organization, I am passionate about equality for all populations. I want a strong public edication system that is adequately funded to give the next generation the best chance of success. I am passionate about environmental issues.
