In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am an attorney, business owner, civic leader, and mother of three with deep Kansas roots and a rare combination of experience across federal government, non-profit advocacy, and private enterprise. I have spent the past two decades in independent oil and gas operations, small business, and public policy, with a proven record of advancing federal legislation, managing complex organizations, and building bipartisan civic coalitions grounded in accountability, constitutional responsibility, and public trust.

Throughout my career, I have worked to solve problems, bring people together, and advocate for those who don't have a seat at the table. Those experiences reinforced my belief that government should work for the people it serves, not for special interests, political parties, or wealthy insiders.

I am running for Congress because Kansans deserve practical, independent leadership focused on lowering costs, strengthening the economy, protecting fundamental freedoms, supporting public education, and ensuring that future generations have an opportunity to thrive. I believe elected officials should be accessible, accountable, and willing to work across political differences to get results.

Kansas has a long tradition of commonsense leadership and civic engagement. I am running to bring that spirit to Washington and ensure that the voices of the people of Kansas' 4th District are heard and respected.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Affordability -- Kansas families are being squeezed from every direction. Grocery prices, gas prices, housing costs, and everyday essentials have all become harder to afford. Our farmers are being hit especially hard by tariffs that limit market access and increase uncertainty, while rising energy costs drive up the price of fuel, fertilizer, and transportation. I will fight for policies that lower costs, strengthen domestic production, expand economic opportunity, and help family farms and small businesses thrive. Washington should be focused on making life easier and more affordable for Kansans--not creating policies that make it harder to get ahead.Bridging the Divide -- People across Kansas are exhausted by the constant outrage, division, and partisan warfare. Most people aren't asking for more political theater--they just want leaders who will show up, listen, and do their jobs. There was a time in our not so distant past when we judged our leaders by their character, values, and ideas rather than by whether they had an R or a D next to their names. It is time to do so once again. Toxic party politics helped create many of the challenges that we face today. We will solve them only by learning to talk to one another again, rebuilding trust, finding common ground where we can, and putting the interests of Kansans ahead of party loyalty.Congress & the Constitution -- The Constitution created three co-equal branches of government for a reason: when implemented properly, checks and balances protect our freedoms and prevent any one branch from accumulating too much power. Congress has a responsibility to govern and conduct oversight--not simply defer to the executive branch. Regardless of who occupies the White House, I believe Congress must reclaim its constitutional role to legislate. Kansans deserve representatives who will uphold the Constitution and put principle above politics.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Ensuring access to healthcare, safeguarding Kansans' privacy, and defending the rule of law.

Campaign websiteTyndell's campaign website stated the following:ACCESS TO HEALTHCAREKaty will work to ensure access to quality, affordable healthcare for all. When Katy was in middle school, her oldest sister was diagnosed with schizophrenia — and her family has navigated the challenges of mental health care ever since. Her mom still helps care for her sister to this day. Katy knows firsthand how hard it is for families to find affordable, accessible mental health services. As a business owner, she’s seen firsthand how skyrocketing insurance premiums make it harder every year to provide good coverage for workers. She is running to make sure Washington starts treating healthcare like the priority it is for families across Kansas.REWARDING HARD WORKAs a business owner, Katy knows what rising costs mean in practice. Small businesses are dealing with tighter margins and increased costs, and the wages hardworking Kansans earn aren’t rising and don’t go as far as they used to. But unfortunately, politicians like Ron Estes and his friends in D.C. keep prioritizing big giveaways to billionaire corporations and powerful CEOs instead of making real investments in the working folks powering our economy. Katy will stand up for working people, small businesses, and families, find common ground with anyone willing to lower taxes on working Kansans, and bring both parties to the table to drive costs down.PROTECTING KANSAS FARMERSKansas farmers are being sold out – Katy has heard it directly from her friends and neighbors who make rural Kansas great. The reason isn’t a mystery. Reckless tariff policies have handed our markets to foreign competitors, devalued Kansas agricultural products, and cut off the buyers our farmers have relied on for generations, while the War with Iran has jacked up fertilizer and diesel costs at the worst possible time. Washington made promises to our farm families and broke them. Katy will fight to reverse the tariff giveaways that are strangling Kansas agriculture, work across party lines to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the War with Iran, and fight the large-scale industrial encroachment and pesticide deregulation that threaten the health of rural Kansans.PUTTING KANSAS WORKERS FIRSTWith the rise of AI, more and more Kansas workers are concerned about their jobs and their futures. Katy believes America needs to lead, innovate and embrace progress, but we cannot do without ensuring protections for the workers and families that progress is supposed to benefit. In DC, Katy will bring both parties together to ensure the future of AI is a job creator, not a job killer.SAFEGUARDING KANSANS’ PRIVACYWhen Katy was a kid, the internet was a utopian exchange of information and global connections. However, decades of little regulation and the absence of guardrails have turned the internet into a dangerous rabbit hole of misinformation and data collection. Katy will champion legislation to protect the privacy of people online–especially our youth–so that tech giants cannot endlessly mine users’ personal data to serve their own ends.DEFENDING THE RULE OF LAWKaty believes in the simple Kansas values of fairness, accountability, and keeping your word. When she was fourteen years old, she sat with her father late one night and he told her: “In order to protect our freedoms for future generations, we all have to be willing to sacrifice.” She has thought about those words a lot lately – about what kind of country her own children will inherit, and what it means to step up when it matters. It is one of the reasons she is running. That means respecting the Constitution, protecting our fundamental rights, and upholding the rule of law. Katy will defend the checks and balances that protect our freedoms and ensure that Congress does its job — because strong institutions and honest leadership are the foundations of good government.— Katy Tyndell's campaign website (July 29, 2026)Note: This text is quoted verbatim from the original source.
