Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I'm a Transgender Democratic Socialist running for every-day Americans on the progressive ideals they deserve. I run on Medicare For All, A Living Wage, Affordable Housing, Universal Childcare, Accountability, Affordability, Abolishing ICE, Ending Citizens United, and Human Rights.
I was born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin and have lived here my entire life. I grew up in Fond du Lac, went to college at UWGB, and have lived all over this beautiful state; from Malone to Oshkosh, Salem to Neenah, and Elkhorn to Green Bay. I've been a musician for over 30 years and have played in 30 states and 7 countries. Being a strong communicator is one of the biggest assets I bring to the political realm, as well as being a small business owner for the past 20 years.
As a public facing trans woman, I bring authenticity and truth to the Senate. I understand what it feels like to be targeted and discriminated against and I will not stand by and let this government continue to hurt people. I promise you, I will do my best to be the best Senator Wisconsin ever had, you have my word.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
I promise to always put the lives and freedoms of Wisconsinites first.I promise to always be accessible, transparent, and willing to listen to everyone I represent, not just those who voted for me.Americans and Wisconsinites are hurting. People need immediate help to survive. Medicare For All, A Living Minimum Wage, fighting for Human Rights, and holding our government officials accountable are just a few of the things I'll be working to get done first. Immediate relief is so very important right now; I'll make sure Americans get the help they so badly need.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Healthcare (Medicare For All), raising the minimum wage, lowering the cost of living, ending Citizens United, putting accountability back on our government, Abolishing ICE, Universal Childcare, and guaranteed human rights equality for everyone! The people need a leader who stands up for them; against authoritarian overreach and also against corporations putting profits over people. America and Wisconsin come first!
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
I look up to Bernie Sanders, Andrea Ocasio Cortez, and Zohran Mamdani. They are democratic socialists and believe in freedom and success for all Americans through strong socialist democratic processes.
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
Being a strong communicator, being truthful, being able to motivate and excite voters to get involved and stay engaged! Not me, we!
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
To do my level best for the people of Wisconsin to have the freedom they deserve!
What legacy would you like to leave?
I would like the state and the country to be far better for my being here.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
I had a paper route when I was 12! I had that job until I started at McDonald's at the age of 16.
What is something that has been a struggle in your life?
Being a transgender American
What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?
Affordability, healthcare, social security sustainability, and overcoming the division we've come to have through the hateful Trumpism Maga movement.
What qualities does the U.S. Senate possess that makes it unique as an institution?
There are only 2 senators from each state. Quite the big role to have!
Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?
It becomes necessary.
What was the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember?
The Space Shuttle Challenger disaster.
