In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Karlie Easley is a hospice nurse, a mother, and a fourth-generation Idahoan running to bring common-sense leadership back to the statehouse.
Karlie was born and raised in eastern Idaho until moving to the Treasure Valley during middle school. She graduated from high school and nursing school in the Treasure Valley and is now raising her son here.
She has spent her entire career taking care of Treasure Valley families in both the emergency and hospice settings. She loves hospice nursing because she gets to advocate for what matters most for her patients, and treat the entire person, not just the diagnosis.
She has held leadership roles where she has been successful at creating fiscally responsible solutions to complex problems, while maintaining quality patient care expectations and healthcare team satisfaction.
Karlie lives in District 22 with her wife, Amanda, and their son. She is running because she believes our leadership should be practical, compassionate and represent all Idahoans.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
As a nurse who has dedicated her entire career to the people of Idaho, Karlie understands what our communities need: healthcare that is both accessible and affordable. Yet instead of focusing on Idaho families, too many legislators are consumed by partisan rhetoric. The result is real and alarming—physicians are leaving our state at record rates, even as our population continues to grow. To meet this moment, we must actively partner with organizations that can help us recruit and retain the providers our communities depend on.
When people lack access to affordable healthcare, the consequences ripple across families, workplaces, and the broader community.
Karlie is committed to advancing practical, commonsense solutions. As a mom, Karlie's priority is ensuring every child in Idaho has a safe classroom where they can gain a great education. As a product of Idaho public schools, she knows what can be accomplished when our schools and teachers are supported.
Idaho schools have been asked to do more with less for far too long. She believes in supporting teachers, funding our schools, and ensuring our curriculum prepares kids for the real-world challenges of tomorrow’s economy. When we invest in our teachers and students, we invest in Idaho’s future. As a nurse, I’ve seen how affordability impacts nearly every part of people’s lives, from housing and food security to access to healthcare. As a fourth-generation Idahoan, I want Idaho to remain a place where working families can build a future. I’m passionate about practical policies that address rising costs, support affordable housing, strengthen economic opportunities including workforce training, and help families keep pace with the cost of living. Hardworking Idahoans should be able to afford to live, raise a family, and age with dignity in the communities they call home.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I’m passionate about the issues that shape whether families and communities can thrive; access to healthcare, strong public schools, affordable housing, mental health services, support for emergency services, and protecting Idaho’s public lands. As a fourth-generation Idahoan, a nurse, and a mom raising a child in Idaho public schools, these issues are personal to me. I’ve spent my career caring for people in moments of crisis and vulnerability, and I believe public policy should reflect that same commitment to care, dignity, and practical problem solving. These issues are connected, and improving life for Idaho families means taking a holistic approach.
