Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I was born in CUBA in 1960. My family escaped the communist Castro regime in 1965. We were blessed to come to this great country. I learned English and was educated in Boston public schools. First in my family to ever get a college education. Received B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University and an MBA in Operations Management from U-Mass / Lowell. I had a 35 year career in the commercial and military electronics industry, retiring as an engineering executive in 2015. I then decided it was time to give back to my community and State which I love very much, and I ran for office in 2018 for the first time. I was elected to the NH House of Representatives for 2021-2022 and I served on the Science, Technology & Energy Committee. I was re-elected for the 2023-2024 session and I now serve on the Finance Committee. I am a strong Christian Conservative. I have won many awards from liberty and tax payer groups for having a 100% record voting in favor of our citizens freedoms and financial security. Am proud to be one of three State Rep.'s that have a 100% voting record for 4 years in a row with the (HRA), House Republican Alliance. I am a member of the Freedom Caucus in the NH House. I have been endorsed by: Americans for Prosperity, Young Americans for Liberty, Cornerstone, NH Liberty Alliance, Re-Build NH, Granite State Taxpayers, NRA, NH Firearms Coalition, NH RTW, and CPAC.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

I am not a politician. I am a "Servant Leader". That has been my style of leadership my entire life. I have run for office because I love the towns that I represent and the State of NH. This is my way of giving back to the best State in the best Country in the world. I am for ever grateful for the opportunities and blessings that they gave me and my family. The biggest of which was getting U.S. Citizenship in 1970.The U.S. and our NH Constitutions are what make us great and different from any other country. I will fight to the death to preserve and protect both. For all of my votes in the NH House, I always ask this question first, "Is this bill constitutional". I have built strong relationships with members from both sides of the aisle. This makes me a more effective representative, as I have been able to pass bipartisan legislation that was good for all of our NH citizens, without compromising the principles that I was elected to champion.I take my responsibilities very seriously. I have a 100% attendance record over 4 years in the House. I attended all of the Public Hearings, Work Sessions, Executive Sessions, and House Sessions. I answer all of my constituents e-mails and phone calls. Being that I am on the busiest committee (Finance), I easily worked over 2,000 hours each of the past two House sessions. And as you know, we only get paid $100 per year. I do this job for the love of my State. I want to keep NH as the best place to live and thrive in the U.S..

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Energy policy is the key policy that drives all other policies. I want energy independence for NH. I am a huge proponent of nuclear (SMR's) Small Modular Reactor technology. My belief is that if a State has energy abundance, many of the social ills are reduced. Lower energy cost and a dependable energy supply create prosperity and a higher standard of living for its citizens. SMR's will give NH energy independence, as they use spent fuel from the traditional reactors. NH has enough spent fuel sitting at the Seabrook site to power all of NH for 150 years. SMR technology is safe and the modules can be located near transmission lines, and no water or water bodies are needed for cooling.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

Jesus. And I am trying to follow his example. Because it makes me a better person even though I will never be perfect on this earth.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

"1984", "Animal Farm", 'Miracle on Ice", NH Republican Platform.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

For me it is Christian-Judeo principals.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

Trustworthy, influential, dependable, great sense of humor.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Be there! Attend all meetings / sessions and represent the people you made that promise to. You get elected based on your stated principles and positions on policy. Therefore you must honor that and be true to the voters that put you into office.

What legacy would you like to leave?

Responsible for having made NH energy independent. Know as a great servant leader by both sides of the aisle.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

The Red Sox won the 1967 American League Pennant and went to the World Series. I was 7 years old and became a Sox fan for life.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

I painted houses in the summer of 1976.

What is your favorite book? Why?

"The Day of the Jackal", it inspired me to read more at age 17, by pursuing all of the other Fredrick Forsythe books. He is my favorite author.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?

Superman

What was the last song that got stuck in your head?

"Fly me to the Moon".

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

At age 8 I was diagnosed with bi-lateral polycystic kidney disease. I had to live my life knowing my kidneys would fail at some point. At age 56 that finally happened and I had to go on dialysis for 3 years and 8 months. But, I received a miracle live donor kidney transplant on February 26, 2020 just 3 days before they closed down all surgeries due to COVID. I now have a second chance at life and I want to give back and share my Faith with everyone that I can.

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and state legislature?

The governor needs to leave the law making to the legislature. In too many cases, governor's are usurping power from the legislature by using executive orders to create temporary or longer lasting laws.

What do you perceive to be your state's greatest challenges over the next decade?

Socialist / Communist policies taking root, as more liberal outsiders move to this state, and bring their ignorant policies with them.

Do you believe that it’s beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics?

It is beneficial because there is so much to learn in the law making process. However it is not essential.

Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.

Absolutely. Relationships are the key to efficiency and success. Passing a law is a very, very difficult process, especially when you have 400 State rep.'s and 24 State Senators. I have good relationships with all the caucuses within my own party and also with my democrat opponents. In fact although I am very Conservative, the bills I have sponsored and passed into law were bipartisan.

Is there a particular legislator, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?

I use the "Servant leader" model myself and do not try to emulate other legislators. As far as admiring past leaders, my favorite is Ronald Reagan.

Are you interested in running for a different political office (for example, the U.S. Congress or governor) in the future?

Yes.

Tell us your favorite joke.

Would not be appropriate. :)

Should the legislature oversee or grant the use of emergency powers?

Absolutely. As is right now those emergency powers have been abused by our governor.

What is the first bill you would introduce if elected?

Making provision for NH to bring in the first Small Nuclear Modular Reactor in the nation. In the sprit of "NH First", we need to set the pace for introducing new nuclear technologies. Especially since NH is currently energy dependent on out of state oil, gas and propane. Our main resource is wood. Nuclear will give us energy independence and it is CO2 free as a bonus.

What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?

American's For Prosperity, Young American's for Liberty, NH Liberty Alliance, Granite State Taxpayers, CPAC, Cornerstone, NH Right To Work, NRA, NH Firearms Coalition and many current NH State Rep.'s and Senators.

What committees interest you?

Finance, Science Technology & Energy, Election Law, Ways & Means.

What are your views on financial transparency and government accountability?

I am a Fiscal Conservative. I serve on the Finance Committee. I always demand transparency when voting on department budgets and our bills that have fiscal notes. I am glad that all of our sessions are filmed so that the public can see what goes on at our meetings anytime.
