A lifelong resident of Arlington, Jordan D Hinders served 6.5 years in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He pursued his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at The University of Mississippi. After the Army, Hinders continued his service as a Deputy Sheriff, where he still works. Hinders’ platform is simple: People First! He believes in taking a head-on approach when tackling issues like the addiction/overdose crisis, the cost of living, and mental health. Hinders believes that people, not dollars, are what a representative is supposed to care about and that it’s been a long time since the people of TN-08 have had that.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
“We The People” are not empty words. It means every person who is in our country and the rights spoken about in our Declaration of Independence should be safeguarded for every person. 250 years later, our nation has become unrecognizable to the intention of our founding fathers. We must finally codify true equality for every person who walks these lands. No more loopholes, equality for all, all your rights, all the time.As a veteran, I’ve seen the cost of our freedom, rights, and Democracy. That cost paid in blood is far too expensive and must be honored. All too often, we receive our veterans back home, praise them, then abandon them. Veterans, especially combat veterans, have earned the right to exceptional medical care, mental health, addiction, and suicide prevention services, as well as the education and home loan benefits. I will serve the needs of our veterans with the same dignity, respect, and honor that they served our nation. I will fight to eliminate the red tape that prevents veterans from receiving those benefits that they earned. As well as, enhance the existing benefits in place. The current cost of living has become a burden to every American, the wealthiest country in the world, the citizens cannot afford to live. Corporations have raised the prices while underpaying their own employees. I propose many policies to alleviate these burdens. A raise in the minimum wage, lowering of taxes for middle class citizens, tax break restrictions so everyone pays their fair share, and accountability policies for corporations whose employees still need government assistance. A head on, proactive approach is needed to quell this crisis.
