In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Hello reader, I hope you are doing well. Like most, my path hasn’t been easy. I am the second in my family to graduate High School, but I did not stop there, I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Geology from Central Washington University. While in school I worked in a restaurant as a busser, host, waiter, and day bartender to pay for school.
After I received my degree, I went straight into the oil field and worked as an onsite geologist. In 17 years of oil field work I have leveraged my skill set to work from home doing remote geosteering. This wasn’t by accident or given to me, I had to make a lot of hard decisions and stand up for myself and my abilities. One thing that propelled me was my goal to be the best at what I do and to care about the work I do.
After my son was born I moved my family to Lincoln County in 2017 because I always saw this as the best place on earth and I wanted to follow in my grandparents’ footsteps and raise my family here as they did. As my family started assimilating into the community, we started seeing the cracks in the system and we have been doing everything we can to make a positive difference within the community.
I am spiritual and I accept Jesus in my heart; we attend United Methodist Church on Sunday mornings.
I’m running in this race to bring the ideas we all have to the table and create action to get things accomplished by working together.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Sustainability: We need sustainable jobs with logging and we need sustainable energy resources to lower Montanans cost for energy. As we look to expand on logging we need to be sustainable with our approach by reducing fuel loads within the woodland urban interface. This can be done on federal lands using the Good Neighbor Authority. Sustainable energy will continue to grow using wind, as of 2023 wind energy was matching coal capacity in Montana. We need to look at other developed countries and implement techniques that will cut down on raptor deaths and avian migration deaths due to wind farms. Finally we can’t ignore solar we have lots of places we can put up solar that dosnt take away from agriculture.Affordability: healthcare, childcare, housing, groceries, and transportation is hitting everyone’s pocket books. We need universal healthcare, no one should be scared to go to the hospital out of fear of the bill not the diagnose. Childcare is through the roof and we need to find solutions to bring that cost down or improve wages for more single family incomes. Housing is through the roof with cost right now, so we need lumber at cheaper cost. This can be accomplished by my sustainable logging plan to use the good neighbor authority to produce product. Groceries are expensive but if we work on eating food harvested in Montana we can cut down on prices and support local farmers. 33% of the food on our plate from Montana farmers by 2033.Recreational Improvements: We need to improve and build more campgrounds & trails. Our state is beautiful from the plains to mountains. I don’t mean development I mean improve existing areas and build better trail systems. Improvements is also about managing and not being complacent when it comes to our water ways. We are seeing pollution from mining and agriculture and we must understand the impact this has for aquatic life in our waterways all the way to river deltas where we see dead zones growing because of our toxic ways.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I’m passionate about our Earth. I’m passionate about human progress. I’m passionate about bring cost down for all Montanans
