Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Born and raised in Panama City, Florida, Jon grew up in a hardworking family where faith, discipline, and personal responsibility were part of everyday life. One of four boys, he spent summers working alongside his father in the family irrigation business, learning early lessons about responsibility, perseverance, and leadership. From a young age, Jon set a goal of becoming the first person in his family to earn a college degree. Athletics helped create that opportunity. After excelling in football and basketball, he earned a basketball scholarship to Palm Beach Atlantic University, where he became a team captain and earned All-American honors. His time at Palm Beach Atlantic University helped shape both his personal and professional future. In addition to developing leadership skills through athletics, it was there that Jon met his wife, Kristi. After graduation, the two chose to build their careers, raise their family, and establish deep roots in northern Palm Beach County. Jon is a 20+ year resident of Palm Beach County. Over those years, he became involved in local organizations and community leadership initiatives focused on service and civic engagement. As a financial planner, Jon spent years helping individuals and families prepare for the future and navigate important financial decisions. His professional background gave him firsthand experience working with families, business owners, and residents planning for long-term stability and economic security.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Affordability and Cost of Living
Families throughout Palm Beach County are feeling the pressure of rising costs. Property insurance premiums continue to strain household budgets, property values have increased taxes and assessments, and residents are paying more for everything, from gas to groceries.
SOLUTIONS:
Cut taxes on small businesses and job creators
Slash burdensome red tape and bureaucracy
Invest in workforce development and vocational education
Support businesses that want to invest in Florida and Palm Beach CountyPublic Safety and Safe Neighborhoods
House District 87 is a wonderful place to raise a family because of the dedication of our law enforcement officers, firefighters, and first responders. We must continue to support the front-line heroes who protect our neighborhoods and make sure they have the resources they need to keep us safe.
SOLUTIONS:
Jail and prosecute violent criminals
Expand programs to detect and eliminate human trafficking
Enhance penalties for organized criminal enterprises
Invest in disaster preparedness and recovery effortsProtecting Parental Rights in Education
There is no one-size-fits-all solution for raising children. Every child is different and parents know their children best. The best way to improve educational outcomes for Florida's students is by empowering parents and giving them a full menu of options to identify the education pathway for their children.
SOLUTIONS:
Encourage parental involvement in education
Protect school choice for Florida families
Support higher academic standards
Promote workforce development and technical schools
Protect schools as safe learning environments
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Jon Maples is a community leader who believes government should work for the people, not the other way around.
Expand programs to detect and eliminate human trafficking. A strong advocate for families, taxpayers and common-sense solutions, Jon is running for Florida House because he understands the challenges facing Palm Beach County residents. Rising costs, soaring insurance premiums, traffic congestion, rapid growth, and concerns about public safety have made it harder for many families to achieve the quality of life they deserve.
