In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am a retired hospitality business owner. After graduation for Cornell University, i worked in the hotel industry, then started my own small business, Wedgewood Wedding and Events in 1986. It now spans the country with 90 locations, 50 in California. I have dealt with the SBOE for 40 years, both from a small and large business prospective.
We currently own a small business (golf course) in Ventura County where Linda, my bride of 52 years, have resided for 40 years.
I have always been interested in government workings, and lack thereof and believe I can contribute a businessperson's view to the SBOE.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
1st - I am the only true businessperson in the race. None of the other candidates have experience dealing with the SBOE that I have.I would consider eliminating either the State Department of Revenue or the SBOE. This is duplication of services. Consolidation may be appropriate to reduce wasteful spending. I will protect Prop 13 for homes and businesses and fight like hell to prevent a mileage tax.I will donate my salary to the food banks in the District.
