“Leadership that Puts People First"
I’m John Winchester, a lifelong Tucsonan, husband, father of four, and problem-solver. As your Republican candidate for Arizona House District 17, I’ll deliver results-driven conservative leadership rooted in proven principles.
That means responsible spending, strong schools with real school choice, safe neighborhoods by standing with law enforcement, and limited government that unleashes opportunity for families, small businesses, and skilled jobs right here in Southern Arizona. Prosperity for my family and yours.
No rhetoric, just results. Let’s build a stronger, more prosperous Arizona together.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Prosperity isn’t accidental. It’s built through ingenuity, responsibility, and the government getting out of the way. I’ll fight to lower housing and energy costs that are squeezing Arizona families, cut wasteful spending, and deliver real tax relief.
We must support small businesses, invest in smart infrastructure, attract high-quality jobs in manufacturing, logistics, and trade, and expand workforce training so our kids can build careers and afford homes right here in Southern Arizona.
No more government overreach driving up costs. Limited government, responsible budgets, and pro-growth policies will unleash opportunity for working families, small business owners, and our local economy.Education is the bedrock of economic opportunity, family prosperity, and the key to the maintenance of the American way of life.. As a father and lifelong learner, I’ll champion school choice so every parent can select the best learning environment for their child, whether public, charter, private, or homeschool.
We must empower parents and teachers, strengthen career and technical pathways, and align education with high-demand jobs in manufacturing, logistics, trades, and entrepreneurship. By preparing our kids to succeed, we build a skilled workforce that drives down costs, attracts quality jobs, and creates real affordability for Southern Arizona families.
Conservative principles deliver strong schools and brighter futures.Public safety is essential to family stability and economic prosperity. No family can flourish in fear, and no community prospers when crime disrupts businesses, drives up costs, or erodes trust.
I will stand firmly with law enforcement, back our first responders, and support tough, smart policies that hold criminals accountable while keeping our neighborhoods secure. Safe communities attract families, investment, and jobs, the ingredients needed to create the stability Southern Arizona needs for long-term growth and opportunity.
Conservative leadership delivers real safety so our families and economy can thrive.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Energy and Land policy are critical to maintain Arizona's growth in manufacturing. Manufacturing jobs have been the bulwark of Arizona's economic prosperity.
Public safety is a critical to the stability of families and economic prosperity. Property crime is on the rise due to the homeless problem, which is driven by the fentanyl crisis. These crimes are driving up costs for businesses and eventually consumers. We need tougher public safety standards and enforcement.
Education is critical for the economy and a healthy republic. Public education is failing. The pipeline from k-12 to higher ed, to industry is broken.
