In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
My name is John Reilly Jr., and I am an independent candidate for State Representative in Massachusetts' Second Worcester District. I am a lifelong resident of North Central Massachusetts, and proudly call Ashburnham home. As a full time father, small business owner, and longtime community volunteer, I understand the challenges families, seniors, veterans, and local businesses face because I have lived them.
Throughout my career, I have worked in technology, media, legal services, and business. I have been recognized as Worcester's Best DJ seven times, worked with major companies including MTV, Google, and Android, and gained experience in budgeting, marketing, technology, and customer service. I have also worked as a legal assistant and coached high school softball, leading my team to a league championship.
Public service has always been important to me. I believe government should be accountable, transparent, and focused on serving the people rather than political insiders. I decided to run because I believe the residents of Gardner, Ashburnham, Templeton, and Winchendon deserve an independent voice who will listen first, and always put the district ahead of politics.
My priorities include strengthening our local economy, supporting public safety, improving access to quality education and workforce training, protecting taxpayers, advocating for veterans and seniors, and ensuring that state government operates with integrity.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
My campaign is about putting the people of the Second Worcester District first. For too long, politics has become more focused on parties and special interests than on the families, workers, seniors, veterans, and small businesses who make our communities strong. As an independent candidate, I am committed to bringing transparency, accountability, and common sense to Beacon Hill. I will listen to the people I represent, work with anyone who has good ideas regardless of political party, and fight for policies that strengthen our local economy, improve public safety, support quality education, and protect taxpayers. My loyalty will always be to the residents of this district, not to a political party or political insiders.I believe state government should be transparent, accessible, and accountable to the people it serves. Residents deserve to know how decisions are made, how their tax dollars are spent, and that every public official is held to the same ethical standards. I will advocate for greater transparency in state government, stronger oversight of public spending, and open communication with the communities I represent. When people contact my office, they will receive honest answers, regular updates, and a representative who is visible, approachable, and committed to serving every resident with integrity.Strong communities are built through opportunity, not division. I will focus on expanding economic opportunities, supporting small businesses, investing in workforce development, and ensuring our schools and public safety agencies have the resources they need to succeed. I believe we can solve problems by bringing people together, listening to different perspectives, and making decisions based on what is best for the Second Worcester District. My goal is to leave our communities stronger, safer, and better prepared for future generations.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am most passionate about government accountability, economic development, public safety, education, and supporting veterans and seniors. I believe taxpayers deserve a government that is transparent, fiscally responsible, and focused on delivering results. I am committed to creating an environment where small businesses can grow, good-paying jobs are available, and families can afford to live and thrive in our communities.
I am also passionate about ensuring students have access to high-quality educational opportunities and workforce training that prepare them for successful careers. Supporting first responders, strengthening public safety, and protecting vulnerable residents are equally important priorities.
