In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a lifelong resident of Hawaii. I grew up in Lai’e, Kahalu’u, Makiki, and have been in Kailua since 1992 where I was lucky enough to build my own house down the street from my mom. My early education was in the public systems at Lincoln, Stevenson, and Roosevelt. Later I graduated from the UH with a bachelors in Anthropology with a focus on Pacific island cultures, I took three years of Hawaiian language. After College I joined my father’s small licensed painting company where I would spend the next 30 years. We moved to Kailua in 1992 where my mom and step dad were fortunate enough to buy a home in the coconut grove area. Later I would move to California for five years, where my eyes were opened to the harsh realities of mainland America. Here I forged my way as a licensed contractor. Afterwards I decide Hawaii is where my heart lay and close to my family, so I can home and revitalized my fathers business, built a home, got married and had a daughter, who was born three months premature. It was through all these struggles, experiences and accomplishment’s that I draw upon for my qualifications and political views.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Restore Hawaiian Kingdom Recognize Hawaiian Sovereignty. Sue to the illegal actions of the United States which led to the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom and government. The subsequent impoverishment fueled by dispossession is a direct line to today’s challenges facing Hawaiians and the Local Working Class population. This legacy has led to the Hawaiians suffering from the highest rates of heart disease, diabetes, teen pregnancy, incarceration, homelessness, mental illness, poverty, which has resulted in the mass exodus of Hawaiian from Hawaii. More Hawaiians live on the continent than Hawaii.Revitalize the economy. Affordable housing, living wage, Medicare for all, self sustainability with local food and Green Energy. Demilitarize Hawaii, get the military out of the housing market, force them to cede back to the Hawaiians the land on which they stole. They also need to clean up their environmental destruction of our aquifers and our precious ‘Aina of which they contaminate through their use of fuels, munitions and toxic chemicals (pfas) of which the military is the number one abuser. Some of these sights are Red Hill, Makua, Pohakuloa, Kahoolawe, and in my district Mokapu, to name a few.Reimagine the formation of our Government in a way in which the elected people actually represent the needs of working people and the land rather than corporate donors. We need a responsive government that meets the immediate needs and observation of corruption and inadequacies presented in an anonymous forum. We will hold accountable through anti corruption initiatives, transparency, term limits, campaign spending limits, and harsher penalties for

Public officials that abuse their power. We need to reimagine the economy in which local farmers and business may thrive creating the jobs we need to keep our children close and at home. The schools need to provide living wages to teachers so we can attract and keep qualified educators.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am passionate about keeping Hawaii’s families in Hawaii, insuring Hawaiis families receive a living wage and affordable housing. Insights into the private sector workforce have led me to wish to reform and provide greater government oversight that allow unlicensed contractors to provide, cheap labor, without benefits, medical, retirements, days off and fair wages. There is a proliferation of a black market labor force that keeps wages down and only serves to improve the bottom line of developers, real estate agents, and contractors. We need to close the loopholes that allow unviable businesses to operate and eventually fail due to their inability to pay their tax liabilities which rob the State of essential income and services.

What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?

I have been endorsed by Our Revolution Hawai’i and 350 Hawai’i.
