Background
Oden was a Republican member of the Alabama House of Representatives, representing the 11th District, Blount, Cullman and Morgan Counties. He was first elected in 1998 and served until his appointment to the Public Service Commission in 2012.
At the time of the 2014 election, Oden worked as chief financial officer for Delta Discount Corporation. He owned O and O Construction Incorporated and O and O Construction and Lumber from 1994 to 1998.
He is a member of the Arrites Oden Masonic Lodge, Ashbury Alumni Association, Eva Lion's Club, Eva United Methodist Church, Huntsville Scottish Rite, Cahaba Temple- Shriners, Decatur York Rite, Frontier Day's Celebration Team and Huntsville Shrine Association.[3]
