Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Jennifer Plumb is a Utah State Senator representing District 9, first elected in 2022. She is a pediatric emergency medicine physician at Primary Children’s Hospital and teaches at the University of Utah. Plumb co-founded Utah Naloxone, where she serves as medical director, working to reduce overdose deaths across the state. Her legislative priorities include public health, injury prevention, child welfare, and policies grounded in data and community impact.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am deeply committed to advancing public health and preventing avoidable death and injury, particularly in areas like overdose prevention and emergency care. As a pediatric physician, I prioritize policies that support children and families and help them thrive. I believe strongly in data-driven policymaking and focus on solutions that are effective, measurable, and grounded in real-world outcomes. I am also passionate about ensuring policies work for vulnerable communities and addressing environmental health challenges, including air quality and the Great Salt Lake. Across all of my work, I focus on strengthening systems so they better serve the people who rely on them.
