In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Jennifer Long is the Libertarian candidate for Michigan House of Representatives, District 77. She brings 10 years of healthcare experience, a law degree from Western Michigan Cooley Law School, and nearly five years of service on the Lansing Township Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Board.

Jennifer has also spent years involved in homeless outreach, working directly with individuals and families in need and gaining firsthand insight into the challenges facing the community.

She believes real leadership means listening to different perspectives, finding practical solutions, and supporting good ideas no matter where they come from. Jennifer believes the role of government should be limited to protecting individual rights, maintaining essential public services, and ensuring fair and consistent laws—not micromanaging the daily lives of citizens.

Jennifer is running to bring accountability to Lansing, increase transparency in government, and return decision-making power closer to local communities and the people they serve.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Lower Taxes & Responsible Spending/Housing Affordability

Families are struggling with rising costs; government should tighten its budget before reaching into taxpayers’ pockets.

Housing costs are a real concern in Lansing.

I would work to reduce unnecessary taxes and regulations, improve government accountability, eliminate ineffective corporate subsidies, and support policies that expand housing opportunities while respecting property rights and local decision-making.Governmental Accountability & Transparency

I will promote open government through transparent budgeting, stronger oversight of state agencies, public disclosure of tax incentives and development agreements, and greater public access to government records and decision-making.Privacy & Constitutional Rights

- Protect First, Second, Fourth, and Fifth Amendment rights.

- Oppose unnecessary government surveillance.

- Protect personal medical and financial privacy.

I will support legislation that protects personal privacy, strengthens oversight of government surveillance, safeguards medical and financial information, defends due process, and upholds the constitutional rights of Michigan residents.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Lower Taxes. More Freedom. Accountable Government.

I believe government should protect your rights, spend your tax dollars wisely, and stay accountable to the people it serves—not special interests. I support safe communities, strong property rights, small businesses, and transparent government that puts Michigan families first.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

Afterthoughts in the mall at fifteen. I worked there through college for around seven years.
