In their own words

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

One job should be enough.

Living people deserve living wages. Working 40 hours a week should mean you can afford to live—and thrive—not just scrape by.

In North Carolina, a true living wage is estimated to range from $23 to $43 an hour, depending on where you live. Yet our minimum wage hasn’t increased in 16 years. During that time, housing, healthcare, food, and utilities have all gone up—while paychecks have stayed the same.

We need a North Carolina legislature that puts people over profits and rejects the tired lie that businesses can’t survive if wages rise. Prices have gone up anyway—without wages keeping pace.

The people who do the work and pay those rising prices deserve a fair shot at a good life.A Great School for Every ZIP Code

From Waughtown to Walkertown, every child deserves the same start as a student in Buena Vista or Brookberry Farm. North Carolina was once a leader in public education. Today, we rank last in school funding and near the bottom in teacher pay.

Strong public schools are essential for giving every child an equitable start and building a prepared workforce. Yet the General Assembly continues to underfund classrooms and withhold money our schools are legally owed.

A great school for every ZIP code means fully funding public education, respecting educators, and putting students and communities over politics and profits.Healthcare for people, not profits.

Your savings account should never be your healthcare plan. No family should be one medical emergency away from bankruptcy. As healthcare access is stripped away across the country, North Carolina needs a legislature willing to fully fight for Medicaid expansion.

We pay for healthcare either way—through rising premiums, emergency care, or taxes—but it is far more affordable and humane to ensure everyone has access upfront than to pay for the crisis created by denial of care. Healthcare is a human right, not a business model for the wealthy to get richer.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

My platform is rooted in economic justice—so every North Carolinian, especially working-class families, has a fair shot at good health, strong schools, and a secure life. We’re often told we can’t afford these investments, but the truth is the money is there. Too often, it’s diverted to corporate interests and backroom deals instead of our communities. Taxpayers deserve a system where their dollars serve the public good. North Carolina has some of the lowest corporate tax rates in the country and asks too little of those who have benefited most. As a result, the burden falls on local governments and property taxes—hitting the middle class hardest.
