In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Dear Neighbor,
Something is wrong in District 78.
Our public schools are under attack. Our healthcare costs keep climbing. And the people who are supposed to represent us in Columbus aren't listening.
And the people with control in Columbus like it that way.
I've lived in enough places to know that people don't fight with each other on their own. They get pushed into it. The people in charge in Columbus would rather we stay mad at our neighbors than start asking why our schools are losing funding and our healthcare keeps getting worse. The real problem in Ohio is not your neighbor down the road. It's the politicians who forgot who they work for.
They use social media and cable news to keep us split up so we're too busy fighting each other to fight back. Divided people don't fight back. That's the whole point.
But I think people are starting to see through it.
Let's be honest about what we're facing: very deep pockets and career politicians who run unopposed. They assume this seat is theirs. It's yours.
I'm not a career politician. I'm a guy who organized 300 volunteers at one of the country's largest air museums, built a life in Lima, and has spent years getting his hands dirty building something real in Allen County. That doesn't intimidate me. And I don't think it intimidates you either.
I learned something a long time ago, moving from school to school across Texas as a kid: people everywhere are more alike than they are different. Every person you meet deserves yo
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Ohio's public schools are in crisis, and it didn't happen by accident. The legislature passed a bipartisan plan to finally fund our schools fairly, then broke its own promise. They cut $2.75 billion from what was owed, shifted the cost onto your property taxes, and funneled over a billion dollars a year into private school vouchers with zero accountability. A judge ruled the voucher program unconstitutional. The state's response was to appeal and keep expanding it.
Meanwhile, teachers are standing in front of classrooms of 42 kids, districts are cutting jobs, and 70% of new school levies fail because homeowners can't afford another hike. Every superintendent in Allen County signed the same letter asking the state to step up. This is what hPeople in Allen County work hard, but the numbers tell a tough story. Wages lag behind the national average by more than five dollars an hour. Nearly one in four Lima residents lives below the poverty line. Childcare providers have all but disappeared. Affordable housing is out of reach for too many families. And when big corporations come to town, they get 15-year tax breaks while your schools and services pick up the tab. District 78 deserves an economy that works for the people who live here, not just the companies passing through.Ohioans have spoken clearly at the ballot box on redistricting, reproductive rights, and personal freedom. They have been ignored every time. The legislature drew maps the courts struck down seven times, then used them anyway. Voters enshrined reproductive rights in the constitution, and Columbus immediately went to work trying to narrow them. When the people lead, their government should follow. In District 78, that starts with a representative who believes your rights are not up for negotiation.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I'm running to make a real difference for working families in Ohio House District 78. My priorities are grounded in the challenges our neighbors face every day, from the cost of healthcare to the quality of our schools. I believe that good government means listening, showing up, and fighting for the people who sent you to Columbus.
