Background

Jeff Shipley was born in Euclid, Ohio.[1][2] Shipley graduated from Naperville Central High School.[2] He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Iowa in 2010. Shipley's career experience includes a sauerkraut salesman, a stand-up comedian, and a legal advocate.[1][2] He has been affiliated with the Hazlitt Policy Center and the Southeast Iowa Mycological Society for the Advancement of Human Consciousness.[1]

I was an ice cream consultant for Cold Stone Creamery in high school. I worked there for a couple of summers. This is where I first became acquainted with binge eating and drug use.

The senate is more conservative but less personality.

Do you believe that it’s beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics?

Yes. Any act of service is beneficial.

What do you perceive to be your state’s greatest challenges over the next decade?

Suicide epidemic and low crop prices

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and the state legislature?

Aligned and united in Truth!

Yes. You need fifty one votes to advance a bill out of the chamber. Some of them are actually likable / non-detestable

What process do you favor for redistricting?

I like Iowa's process, the model for bipartisanship. Although I don't trust computers much either, at least they do what they're told more often than humans.
