In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
My name is Jason Perron, and I am an Independent candidate for State Representative in the 3rd Hampden District. I am a veteran, a police officer with nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience, a former Chair of the Southwick Selectboard, and a longtime union steward and contract negotiator. Throughout my career, I have worked with people from different backgrounds, perspectives, and political beliefs to solve problems and serve our communities. I am running because I believe people deserve practical, accountable representation that puts the needs of residents ahead of political parties and ideological divisions.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
I am running as an Independent because I believe elected officials should represent the people they serve rather than a political party. Good ideas can come from anywhere, and I believe government works best when leaders are willing to listen, think independently, and focus on solutions instead of partisan politics. My experience in law enforcement, municipal government, collective bargaining, and public service has given me firsthand knowledge of the challenges facing families, businesses, seniors, veterans, and local communities. I understand how government decisions affect people in their everyday lives and will bring that practical experience to Beacon Hill.I believe accountability, transparency, and communication matter. Residents deserve representatives who show up, listen, answer difficult questions, and work with others to get things done. My focus will be on solving problems, strengthening local communities, and delivering results for the people of the 3rd Hampden District.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am passionate about affordability, local aid, public safety, education, government accountability, infrastructure, and ensuring that Western Massachusetts receives fair attention and resources from state government. I believe communities need greater flexibility and local control when addressing their unique challenges. I am also passionate about supporting veterans, seniors, working families, and small businesses while promoting practical solutions that help people remain in the communities they call home.
