In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am running to ensure that going forward Maryland will be represented in our nation's capital from a non-partisan and service focused mindset. Partisan politics often clouds the judgement of those in office. This leads to closed ears on important discussions, petty rivalries and unneeded grandstanding which results in limited service to citizens. As your representative in U.S. Congress I will work to overcome partisan strife and focus on leadership that inspires collaboration, not only to meet the challenges faced by our district, but those that affect our nation. I will seek to initiate and support programs that bring needed funds and opportunities to our district and state, helping move us forward towards a shared and prosperous future.

A teacher at heart, I will continue to advocate for our schools. I will support our parents and educators in providing opportunities for our students to grow and excel in positions of state, national and global leadership. Together we will ensure our students are able to successfully express their gifts and problem-solve in a future with demands we have yet to encounter.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Education: Our greatest national treasure lies in our children; as such, funding to schools is an investment in our future. I will encourage and support legislation that brings needed funding to our schools in support of providing our students with hands-on, real world opportunities to learn and grow. In order for our children to thrive in an ever-changing workforce and economy they will need to be equipped with in-demand skills and be given the opportunity to earn industry credentials before graduation. Additionally, I support creative measures to restore our valuable teacher and education workforce. Any investment to those who serve our children is an investment in our children and in the future of our state and nation.Inflation: We have all wrestled with rising costs brought on by inflation, as it has taken hold of our budgets and way of life. Far too often families have been forced to make tough choices when it comes to the most basic of life's necessities. With such hardships facing our families on a daily basis it is reprehensible that so many of our lawmakers quibble over trivial partisan matters. As your representative, I will work to redirect Congressional focus from squabbles over party politics towards supportive policies and legislation that combat inflation.Infrastructure: Our district is the fastest growing in Maryland and with such rapid growth comes the need for balanced infrastructure to support the increases in our population. Quality infrastructure improves quality of life. As your representative in Congress I will advocate for needed funds to be sent to our district in support of infrastructure projects that will support and enhance our overall quality of life.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?

For those in office finding reasonable common ground with their counterparts for the express benefit of everyday citizens is essential. Sadly, this is sorely lacking in congress today.

School should enthusiastically connect our students to education via their passions. Our students need to know that the skills they are learning each day have real world value that connects to the activities, causes and professions they care about. As a member of the Board of Education, I will actively engage the local, state, and national business community to ensure our students are given the best opportunity to stand out as leaders in Maryland, our nation and the world.
