Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am a lifelong Kansan, born in Russell. My dad was an ass’t manager at Pizza Hut, and then TG&Y, which meant we were transferred to McPherson, Beloit, Wellington, and finally Dodge City where I grew up. At heart, I’m a Western Kansas kid with ties all across the state.
Growing up, my family opened our home to take care of foster kids. I was 5 when that started, and over the next 7 years, we had 10 kids anywhere from 2 nights to 2 years. Seeing the bruises, burns, and broken-hearts of these kids taught me a lot about my own privilege and using it for others. I grew up wanting to make safe places for kids.
I worked hard in school, had my first job at 12, went on scholarship to KU undergrad and KU Law, to become a prosecutor of child abuse crimes. For 21+ years, I've been a public servant pulling offenders out of communities all over Kansas – from down in Baxter Springs up to St. Francis, from Liberal up to Kansas City, and everywhere in between. I have excelled in my role, being awarded a Crime Victim’s Rights Champion in 2014, being selected to teach at the National Advocacy Center and at national conferences, and serving on the Attorney General’s National Investigations Advisory Committee from 2018 to 2024, providing guidance to all 94 USAOs on novel and complex child exploitation investigations.
I'm a husband, father, and foster parent, currently living in Wichita. I coach with League 42 baseball, sing in our church choir, and camp with our boys.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Prosecute to Reboot - Before we can get to policy, we have to prosecute for accountability. As a seasoned trial attorney, I want to take my skills to help remove the obstacles in the Executive Branch. It's not enough to simply be angry, or even to impeach and convict - we need professional inquiry that can collect evidence and testimony that will be admissible later, when we have a DOJ that is back to its proper function. As a public servant for 21+ years, I'm uniquely qualified for this very critical task at hand. You don't call a Plumber to do your Dental Work - From my 16 years experience, I am deeply familiar with the way federal laws are written, how they are implemented and applied, and how they are interpreted by the Courts. I've also been a public servant, serving the interests of Kansans across the state, for 21+ years. As they say, the best predictor of future performance is past performance, and my past performance has shown I work hard for vulnerable Kansans.
My candidacy also forces Republicans and Independents into choosing, or refusing, the prosecutor of pedofiles versus an absent enabler of the Epstein-class. In a general election, that choice is obvious.Representing All Kansans - Our Senator has abandoned us in service to a single person: the President. Our Senator no longer represents Kansans. We are a large state, with many interests, and we need a public servant that will ask good questions of constituents, and then take that information and advocate for better policy in Washington. Things like rolling back the OBBBA cuts, expanding Medicare/Medicaid, curtailing tariff-power, putting a stop to incoherent conflicts with allies and enemies alike, imposing fair corporate taxation - these are all mission critical for our Kansas families, farmers, ranchers, and manufacturers.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I believe strongly in the Rule of Law, and providing equal justice to all. Diversity and empathy exist alongside justice, not in opposition to it. The strength of the United States comes from building community, not propagating misinformation and scapegoating, particularly in relation to our immigrant and LGBTQ+ neighbors.
We need a return to kindness in our discourse. We've been arguing party positions for too long, and there's simply a failure to try to find our points of common interests. Kansans agree on many issues - we want fair taxation, we want healthcare for our kids and grandparents, we want stable markets so our farms and businesses can plan, we want rational immigration policy. There's room at the table for all.
