In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I grew up on a farm in southeast Nebraska, where I developed a strong work ethic and lasting connection to rural life. I began my healthcare career as a Certified Nursing Assistant and went on to earn my RN, BSN, and MSN from Bryan School of Nursing and the University of Nebraska Medical Center, becoming a dually certified Family Practice and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, I have worked in private practice, rural hospitals, corrections, developmental care, and the Lincoln VA, where I helped expand psychiatric telehealth services. I have also owned a behavioral health clinic and served in many leadership roles.
A lifelong Nebraskan, I am dedicated to my community through service in education, including volunteering in schools, serving on the TriCounty Board of Education, and in 4-H leadership. I continue to support my family farm, carrying forward my deep roots in agriculture.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
I believe every Nebraskan deserves access to healthcare that meets their needs without government overreach. Medical decisions should remain private between patients and their providers, and one-size-fits-all mandates do not work in healthcare. I support maintaining nursing as a profession. I also believe the vote of the people should always be upheld. Voters approved medical marijuana, and it should be made available to be prescribed for patients whose symptoms are alleviated by its use.Strong public schools are essential to giving our children the best opportunities to succeed academically, socially, and beyond. I support maintaining and strengthening Nebraska’s public schools while respecting the choices of families who pursue private education. Our veterans deserve the highest level of care and respect. My professional experience providing healthcare for Veterans has made it clear that consistent access to medical and psychiatric care is essential. My late father, a WWII Veteran, served our country, and I personally understand the sacrifices our Veterans have made. I will continue to fight for our Veterans in the State Legislature.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am passionate about public education. My top concern is funding and the threat of school vouchers. I am thankful my children received an excellent learning experience at TriCounty Public School, and I served as a Board of Education Member for three terms.
We need to ensure that public money stays in the public school system. As a Senator, I would vote against any school voucher legislation, which voters have already shown they are against. In addition, I would advocate for new revenue to fund education by providing tools to grow and support businesses in our state and attract new businesses.
