Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

A graduate of Russellville High School, Jamie Kiel started his company — Kiel Equipment — while working toward his Management and Marketing degree at the University of North Alabama. What began as a local business 30 years ago now serves customers across Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Kiel, in his second term in the Alabama House of Representatives, serves as Vice Chairman of the House Education Ways and Means Committee. In addition, he serves on the Insurance Committee, Ports and Waterways Committee, and State Government Committee. Kiel serves on the University of North Alabama Foundation Board of Directors and the Northwest-Shoals Community College Foundation Board of Directors. He is a founding member of the Franklin County Broadband Taskforce, and has served on the SACS Accreditation and the Federal Monitoring Committees for the Franklin County school system.

Jamie and his wife have three daughters. The Kiel family is actively involved at their church where Jamie served as the music director for 20 years.

Government should take less.Government should do more with what it has. Fiscal responsibility is essential.Government should protect those who cannot protect themselves.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Jamie's wife and parents are educators and his three children attend public schools. Making sure that every dollar gets as close to the classroom where it can have the most impact is essential.
