Background
Uthmeier earned a bachelor's degree and graduate degree from the University of Florida and a law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center.[3] Uthmeier's career experience includes working as a senior counsel and senior advisor in the U.S. Department of Commerce during the Trump administration from 2017 to 2019. He began working in the office of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) in 2019 as a deputy general counsel, and in 2020 was promoted to general counsel.[3]
Uthmeier worked as the chief of staff for DeSantis' gubernatorial administration from October 2021 through August 2023.[4] In August 2023, he became campaign manager for DeSantis' 2024 presidential campaign, following the resignation of former campaign manager Generra Peck.[5] Click here to read more about campaign managers in the 2024 presidential election.
