Written plan to end the Federal Income tax, let's end the Temporary tax that never ended.Family, life values, married 21 years with 3 children. Supports life. ChristianSouth Dakota and USA first, only 1/4 of the farm bill roughly goes to farms.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Personal and property rights, no more Eminent Domain for Private Businesses or development. Supports open meetings with rights of the public; to religion, to speech, petition, press, assemble, and all other constitional rights
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
There are many successful people past and present. I support Greatness in morality, the helping of others, I am Often surprised by what many would call ordinary people that have done extraordinary acts. Whether they are assistance, support, kindness, or technological marvel that improved the lives of others. Nikoli Tesla and Volvo, did amazing engineering work and shared patents that they were for the betterment or protection of all people.
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
Ethics, Integrity, & protecting the citizens money & property from overtaxing, overspending and cronyism.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
To act on the citizens wishes over one's own. To protect the Citizens rights. To protect our Nation's Heroes who fought for this country.
What legacy would you like to leave?
The End of Income tax for all time. Reinvigoration of Constitutional Rights.
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
I watched the Shuttle disaster live at school. We all recalled as a teacher was selected to join the mission, and most teachers planned to have students watch the launch. I was only 8.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
As a kid, I first worked as a Construction Laborer, before I knew i was too young to do so. I am a Master of Many Trades, even mastering New ones in my mid Forties, I qualified as a paralegal, something I had never specifically studied prior. I have Served my Country as Sgt, In Civil Engineering and Deployed as Red Horse. Did heavy Construction & Stopped fraud waste and abuse in Iraq. Studied Teaching originally in College and taught in a variety of Grades. Owned my Own Construction Company. Currently Own a Military Surplus Store with all the fixings of a Gun shop.
What is your favorite book? Why?
After the Bible, which I learned both through catatism At Catholic School later and Bible School with the Baptist School Church in my youth. I read non-fiction events, the revolution, the civil war, WW2, and so forth. This is important to me, lest we forget the mistakes and accomplishments of our path.
If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?
Most Any Superhero, helping others, saving lies, righting wrongs.
What is something that has been a struggle in your life?
I struggled with Poverty as a youth, I was Poor. My family did not have much. From that I started work adn went to school in middle School. This work ethic continued and I paid my way through College on my own, with the help of Some scholarships earned for Academics. Today, I am a self made man from my hard work.
What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?
To act as the citizens voice for Lawmaking, To protect Citizens in exercising their rights.
Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?
Not always, we have seen time and again some people with experience, use that experience for self enrichment and profit.
What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?
Taxes, Crime, immigration reform, election reform, Military preparedness. Constitutional rights erosion.
Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?
I Support the Constitution which states it is required every 2 years.
What are your thoughts on term limits?
I will support the will of the people. I do support limits, i think a solution can be made to address this.
Is there a particular representative, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?
I believe in the Reagan standard, at least 80% party and constitution supporter. There is no-one I know to be considered perfect. Whether our great founding fathers, Like James Monroe, John Quincy Adams all had details not everyone was happy about. It is every House members duty to be highly responsive to the will of the people, while upholding the Constitution.
Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?
Yes, I have been touched by the landowners fighting land grabs by elected leaders. From Eastern & Central South Dakota to the Shores of New Jersey, eminent domain is not for Elected officials to take land for Private Businesses. Dusty Johnson Sponsorship of HR 4135 specifically allows the federal Government to take land for Co2 pipelines for Carbon Credits, I DO NOT SUPPORT THIS.
Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?
In some cases common ground can be made, but I will not vote against the Constitution or Immorally.
The Constitution says that all bills for raising revenue must originate in the House. What role would this power play in your priorities if elected?
To decrease government spending to allow South Dakotans & all Americans to save more of their hard earned money
How should the U.S. House use its investigative powers?
To protect citizens. It should be used to investigate Constitutional and Criminal violations of the electorate. This allows for Government oversight and informing the public of the investigation.
Candidates hear many personal stories from voters. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching or memorable?
several, currently helping a rancher from South Dakota. His land was taken under very strange circumstances, and while fighting for Justice was met with Corruption. I am helping to stamp out corruption and provide oversight and right wrongs when found.
What is an accomplishment that you are proud of?
Many, Married for over 21 years, raising 3 kids. ( A life wished for and deemed more important than graduating college according to my Grandmother.) Returning from Iraq, No values life and family more than those that may lose them.
Helping others with problems lead me to become a paralegal. Odd I know. When I was 45, I worked pro-bono to help others, not get rich or famous, Now I have realized that I cannot help everyone from being a paralegal, or even a lawyer. As a member of Congress I can help many more,
What role should the United States government have in the development or use of artificial intelligence?
I think the dangers of AI should be closely monitored. The US needs to support Legislation to Control its use for crime or other immoral uses.
What legislation would you enact related to election administration in the United States?
Voter ID requirements by a real ID that confirms citizenship. Even in South Dakota, a Jury Member was a foreign national with no citizenship, she was called from her automatic voter card filed by the DMV, that does not Check Citizenship.
