In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I’m Jacquelyn Randall, a respiratory therapist, college professor, former mayor, and lifelong resident of Hawthorne. I’m running for the Florida House because I believe local voices should be making local choices, and I’ve spent my entire life doing the work of showing up, rolling up my sleeves, and fighting for people who too often get overlooked.
I’ve spent my career on the frontlines of healthcare and my public service fighting for strong public schools, better access to care, and real investments in infrastructure and workforce training. As mayor, we brought a community college outpost to Hawthorne, secured millions for water and wastewater upgrades, and broke ground on a new community resource center.
Families across our district are struggling with rising insurance, utilities, and everyday costs. I’m
running to lower costs, protect healthcare access, strengthen public education, and make sure
rural and small-town communities aren’t forgotten.
Now I’m ready to take that fight to Tallahassee so working families, small towns, and rural communities finally have a voice. If you’re ready for a representative who will show up, work hard, and deliver real results for our communities, I’d be honored to earn your support.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Lowering Costs & Affordability:
Jacquelyn will fight to rein in rising insurance premiums, utility costs, and everyday expenses, and oppose policies that pad corporate profits at the expense of working families.Healthcare Access & Protection:
Jacquelyn will expand access to affordable healthcare, support community-based care models, and expand healthcare access in underserved and rural areas.Infrastructure & Rural Community Investment:
Jacquelyn will secure state resources for water, wastewater, transportation, and broadband infrastructure that strengthen rural communities while protecting natural resources.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Education is personal to Jacquelyn. She grew up in Hawthorne public schools, and her public service began when local schools were at risk of closing.
She helped form the first PTA at Hawthorne Middle/High School, organized families, and worked with community leaders to keep those schools open.
In Tallahassee, Jacquelyn will fight to fully fund public education, protect neighborhood schools, support teachers, and make sure rural students are not left behind.
She also believes students need real options after high school. As Mayor, she helped bring a Santa Fe College outpost to Hawthorne so students could access education and job training closer to home.
For Jacquelyn, investing in education means investing in communities.
