In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Hello! I'm Jacoby Wynkoop. I'm a cook, I make cute plush toys, and love learning about local plants. Pretty average person.

I decided to run after a conversation with a fellow foodservice worker. The local grocery store deli is one of the busiest places in the area, and these guy break their backs every day for minimum wage. We talked about the repeal of the sick leave amendment here in Missouri in 2025, and how this relatively minor benefit was taken away, thanks to lobbying efforts by the Missouri Chamber Of Commerce. It wasn't even a very generous sick leave policy, but they moved heaven and earth to make sure we weren't going to get that sick leave.

There have been many reasons and opportunities to take action in the last several years. I tend to tell people that you can just gesture wildly at everything happening and that's reason enough. But this was a very mild, very moderate change that many people put a lot of work into getting on the ballot. It passed with a healthy margin. But despite this demonstration of pure democracy, the wealthy have the final say. If I can stand in the way of that even once I'll have done my job. And that's why I'm running.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Workers Rights.

Beyond the sick leave, which needs restored, I want to strengthen Missouri's worker protections and rights. Ensure that the Missouri Department of Labor is funded to appropriately deal with misclassifications and other labor violations.Healthcare

Insurance companies have been directing healthcare for far too long to disastrous results. Fail-first step therapy delays care and costs lives, and I aim to address this.Privacy

Whether it's overreach by tech companies gathering personal data or the state bothering people about which bathroom they're using, I aim to pull back the many breaches of privacy that we face in this state. Private industry can't and shouldn't be trusted with sensitive information like drivers licenses, and people are pretty well sick of companies like Flock partnering with law enforcement.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Labor laws. The dynamic between employer and employee is so heavily weighted to one side that any efforts to balance the scales are a passion of mine.
