Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am a Christian, a cashier, a district 6 citizen since the age of 3 and the first autistic candidate for major office in Alabama history. I was an officer and board member of a disability self advocacy organization based out of Vestavia Hills before I earned my BA in history from the University of Montevallo. I am active in Iron City Church and regularly attend Homewood city government events.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
It is time to take healthcare back from the Big Mules and provide for our own. Protect Medicaid and the ACA. Expand Medicare to cover more citizens under 65 who have contributed to the Medicare system. Establish an independent “Autauga Cooperative” designed to keep non-profit hospitals afloat so they don’t have to shut their doors or sell to for-profit companies. Provide universal pediatric dental care and ensure national coverage of minors seeking cancer treatment out of state. It is time to end the Alabama Power monopoly. Establish the “Cahaba River Corporation.” A clean, federally owned alternative to Alabama Power. Rate payments will go to service, not profit. It is time to protect voting rights for every Alabamian. I will fight to take our redistricting process back from the Big Mules through standalone legislation mandating independent redistricting commissions be used in every state rather than allowing politicians to gerrymander for themselves and their parties.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Palestine- US relations, immigration/ ICE, disability rights and representation, education, healthcare, the environment, taxes, criminal justice, public transportation, labor laws/ unions, data centers, government reform
