In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Jack Richardson is a third-generation, lifelong Falmouth resident. His family ran the Elm Arch Inn in the heart of downtown Falmouth for almost a century. Jack’s upbringing has formed his commitment to fighting for working-class values. His father is a landscaper and former innkeeper, and his mother an Army National Guard employee on Joint Base Cape Cod. The son of a M.O.S.E.S and N.A.G.E employee, Jack is committed to strengthening our Unions to fight against income inequality and ensure good fair wages for all trades. After graduating from Falmouth Public Schools, Jack attended American University in Washington D.C . As a recipient of federal work-study aid, Jack worked as a barista on campus before and in between classes. During his junior and senior years, he worked full-time on Capitol Hill and supported campaigns back home. Jack has served on the Falmouth Select Board, Housing Authority and is a town meeting member for Precinct 9. Jack is the youngest person elected to the Falmouth Select Board in the towns more than 300 year history. Jack served as the liaison to the Falmouth Cultural Council, Affordable Housing Committee, Recreation Committee, and Falmouth Substance Abuse Commission.

On the Falmouth Select Board, he delivered real results. He led the board to:

Pass a 10% residential tax exemption, saving residents an average of $400 a year

Ban Ice from town property without a judicial warrant

Place the Long Pond watershed into permanent conservation

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Working- and middle-class Cape Cod residents have seen their wealth erode faster than our shorelines. The median home price in my district is over $850,000, an over 50% increase since 2020. At the same time, out-of-state second-home owners continue to buy up property to only use it one weekend a summer. We need to put policies in place that lower the cost of housing for everyday year-round Cape residents and force the wealthy to pay their fair share. On the Falmouth Select Board, I did exactly this, passing a 10% residential tax exemption, lowering taxes for year-round residents and increasing them on the 2nd and 3rd home owners. On Beacon Hill, I will be a voice to raise taxes on the billionaires and close corporate tax loopholes.Energy and Healthcare costs are too high. Corporate Greed is the main reason for both. Eversource, the company that provides electricity to the Cape, posted $1.69 billion in earnings this year, more than double 2024's, and its CEO took home $15 million. At the same time, Eversource has continually asked for rate hikes on Baystaters. We need to transition to municipally run and owned utilities so the taxpayers can keep rates low and benefit from their investment, not a for-profit corporation.

Healthcare is the same story. I support Medicare for All here in Massachusetts. We led on healthcare with mandatory coverage. Now we can be a leader again and pass the first single-payer system in the United States.Climate change is threatening our way of life here on Cape Cod. From beach erosion to eutrophication of our waters, every aspect of our beautiful peninsula is at risk. I support investing in green energy so we can reach our climate goals and drive down costs while creating thousands of union, good-paying jobs. We also need to get more state aid for wastewater projects so we can support our year-round and seasonal population without risking our watershed.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I support the following policies:

Raising taxes on billionaires

Closing corporate tax loopholes

Transitioning to municipally owned utilities

Medicare for all

Moratorium on data center construction

Banning dynamic & surveillance pricing

Investing in high-speed rail

A Green New Deal for Massachusetts

Strengthening Union bargaining rights for public employees

An AI & digital bill of rights

and more!
