In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
My name is Jack Bader, and I’m running for the Michigan House of Representatives because I believe government should work for working people, not just those with the most money and influence.
I grew up in Vassar and still call this community home. I’m a Realtor, a member of the Vassar Planning Commission, and a new father. My experiences in real estate, local government, and my community have shown me how much harder life has become for working families as healthcare, housing, and many industries have become more expensive and more consolidated.
I’m running because I want to strengthen Michigan’s middle class by supporting workers, small businesses, and policies that create a more competitive economy. I do not accept corporate PAC money because I believe elected officials should be accountable to the people they represent.
My campaign is focused on expanding opportunity, reducing the influence of special interests, and ensuring Michigan remains a place where families can build a good life.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Put working people first. Michigan’s economy works best when workers, small businesses, and local communities have the opportunity to succeed. I will support policies that strengthen workers’ bargaining power, encourage entrepreneurship, increase competition, and reduce the corporate consolidation that has driven up costs and concentrated wealth and power.Make life more affordable. Too many Michigan families are struggling with the rising costs of healthcare, housing, utilities, and everyday essentials. I will focus on practical solutions that lower costs, increase access to healthcare, expand housing opportunities, and ensure families can build a secure future without falling behindIndependent leadership you can trust. I do not accept corporate PAC money because I believe elected officials should answer to the people they represent, not powerful special interests. I will be an independent voice focused on transparency, accountability, and putting the residents of the 97th District first
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am passionate about making healthcare affordable and accessible, ensuring the benefits of artificial intelligence are shared broadly rather than concentrated among a few corporations, improving transportation and road safety, and addressing the growing concentration of wealth and power that has left workers and local communities with less influence. I strongly support workers’ rights, collective bargaining, and policies that strengthen Michigan’s middle class. I also believe government should be transparent, accountable, and free from the influence of special interests so the public can have confidence that decisions are being made in the best interest of the people
