In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I’m a rural, working mom; the wife of a Marine combat veteran; and a healthcare access advocate.

From regularly having to travel 40+ minutes for prenatal then pediatric care to balancing work and motherhood because of childcare costs to watching my husband navigate accessing the care he earned serving our country, I know what it’s like to feel unseen and unsupported by existing institutions and policies.

From my work, I know that my family’s situation is far from unique.

That’s why I’m running for the Kentucky State House: to fight for a Kentucky that works for ALL of us—regardless of our identity, income, or zip code.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Preventive healthcare is cheaper than treatment or emergency care. Kentuckians deserve policies that ensure they can access medical, dental, and vision care and afford their medications, regardless of who they are or where they live.Economic hardship significantly increases substance abuse and crime rates. A living wage; housing, groceries, and utilities we can afford; and the presence of a safety net to catch us in times of hardship strengthen Kentuckians, their families, and their communities.Education and entrepreneurship move communities forward, but they are becoming increasingly out of reach. It’s time to take another look at, and adjust, our priorities by focusing on childcare access, fully funded public schools, greater support for both public universities and trade schools, and more investment in the small businesses that make our communities unique.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Healthcare access; affordability; workers' rights; public education; and rural infrastructure
