Education

"Education is the master key to the doors of opportunity." We have to prioritize education because the more we know the further we can progress as a district and a nation.

How do we accomplish this?

Adequately fund Pre-K - 16 education. This will allow every American student to graduate with at least an associate degree

Restructure the curriculum to incorporate literacy and STEM education starting a Pre-K

Ensure students are both college and career-ready upon the time of graduation

Use proven methods of student evaluation and reduce ineffective standardized testing

Reduce Pre K - 12th grade classroom sizes to 20 students per class maximum

Incentivize school districts to increase the percentage of students in dual enrollment courses

Increase teacher salaries and provide funding for teachers to purchase supplies for classroom instruction.

Equal access for all women and men (including persons with disabilities) to affordable and quality technical, vocational and tertiary education.

Healthcare

Investing in a county healthcare system will allow us embrace emerging healthcare technologies and prepare the future generation of North Texan trained health professionals Healthcare is a priority because our very existence relies upon our ability to stay alive.

How do we accomplish this?

Invest in community health centers that provide primary, prenatal, and other important care

Expand the access to mental health services and make them available at all publicly funded educational institutions

Invest in the diverse talent at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) to increase the amount of minority healthcare providers

Increase the Affordable Care Act subsidies and federal investment in Medicare

Redirect our focus on preventative care and increase salaries for Primary Care Physicians

Reduce the cost of prescription drugs and medical procedures

Invest in clinical research the curing birth defects, heart disease, airborne pathogenic infections, and cancer

Justice Reform

According to the Equal Justice Initiative, the United States incarcerates its citizens more than any other country. Mass incarceration disproportionately impacts the poor and people of color and fails to increase public safety. Police Departments across the country are facing both intense challenges and tremendous opportunities to enhance public safety. Challenges in policy and oversight; community partnerships and officer wellness and safety. While advances in technology have created promising and new approaches to policing.

How do we accomplish this?

Invest in the Public Defenders' department, in the same manner, we currently invest in the District Attorneys' offices and increase incentives for practicing attorneys to become Public Defense Attorneys

Mandate United States Constitutional law courses in all middle and high school social studies/history curriculum

Mandate all criminal cases where clients are facing 5 or more years in state or federal prison to be heard in court by a diverse jury

End mass incarceration by eliminating the bail system and decriminalizing drug offenses in all 50 states

Increase the educational requirement for police officers and establish a federal licensing process

Abolish the Death Penalty because it is expensive, based on racial bias, and riddled with error

Infrastructure

Investment in infrastructure has the power to alleviate today’s economic distress and create opportunities for tomorrow. North Texas can continue to grow our current efforts and prepare for future growth.

How do we accomplish this?

Develop sustainable and resilient infrastructure to support economic development and human well-being with a focus on affordable and equitable access

Build state of the art public hospitals, schools, interstate highways, and speed trains

Ensure access to adequate, safe, and affordable housing, transportation ensuring that it is ADA compliant

Increase efforts to safeguard cultural/natural environments and provide universal access to accessible green spaces

Strengthen regional development planning to support economic and environmental affiliations between urban and rural areas

Digital Infrastructure

Develop cybersecurity standards and certifications to secure digital transactions

Legalize municipal networks (publicly owned telecommunications infrastructure)

Protect citizens from landlord-tenant scams and digital redlining- Internet Service Providers (ISPs) often broker special deals with landlords of apartment complexes and multi-family homes to ensure only one ISP serve the tenants

Ensure the affordability and equitable access to broadband

Climate Action

According to the Union of Concerned Scientist Climate change is one of the most urgent issues of our day. Several recent studies show that acting quickly and decisively to address this challenge and shift our economy to clean energy will bring significant benefits to the United States—while also helping us avoid some of the worst consequences of unchecked global warming.

How do we accomplish this?

Introduce and pass new amendments to The Clean Air Act to accommodate the current conditions of today

Increase the incentives for recycling plastics, fabrics, and other waste materials that contribute to the landfills

Allocate additional funding for the research and development of technologies that will convert carbon dioxide to oxygen, preserve the polar ice caps, and mitigate rising sea levels

Support electric public transportation and expand the available routes to encourage more people to use ride-sharing when possible

Economy

Closing the economic inequality gap, stopping inflation and creating jobs that pay good salaries are the top priorities to creating a balanced and stabilized economy.

How do we accomplish this?

Modernize our infrastructure to address the supply chain logistical breakdown

Create more jobs and subsidize income for full-time workers to reduce the labor cost of small businesses

Incorporate a flat tax rate on all income tax brackets

Implement balanced corporate tax policies that allow companies to pay their fair share

Reel in government spending by decreasing department spending for the next five years

Immigration

Diversity improves our country. Ensuring we have the resources and policies in place is important to address the current economic stress we face. The priority is to identify every person in this country and create unbiased pathways to U.S. residency and citizenship.

How do we accomplish this?

End the current Visa Waiver Program and replace it with a Global Visa Program in partnership with member countries of the United Nation

Direct Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection to implement a technology-based nimble process at ports of entry

Hire more USCIS agents and migrate to a digital platform to process all visa, employment authorizations, and U.S citizenship applications.

National Security

Every American should feel safe in this within the borders of this country. We have an obligation to defend our citizens from all foreign, domestic and virtual threats.

How do we accomplish this?

Establish cybersecurity standards and certifications to increase the security of digital transactions and information sharing to facilitate action against cybersecurity vulnerabilities and exploitation

Expand the role of the Department of Homeland Security in protecting the digital infrastructure

Implement federal legislation establishing uniform regulations regarding the collection and use of personal information

Mandate the Federal Breau of Investigations update and maintain the Domestic Terrorism List to include organizations and individuals confirmed to have committed acts of terror to vulnerable groups

Increase our engagement in the United Nations and support the increased U.N. authorization to resolve conflict among nations

Call for a global ban on the use and production of all nuclear weapons[2]
