In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am Dr. Inam Rahman, a board-certified internal medicine physician, small business owner, and longtime resident of West Oʻahu running for the Hawaiʻi State Senate to represent Waipahū, ʻEwa Beach, and Pearl City. For decades, I have cared for Hawaiʻi patients, served in medical leadership, and worked to improve healthcare access and public health. I am running because too many local families are struggling with the high cost of living, housing, and healthcare, and I believe government must do more to deliver practical solutions and greater accountability to the people it serves.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Lower the cost of living

I will work to make Hawaiʻi more affordable by building more housing, streamlining permitting, supporting local businesses, and addressing the rising costs of food, healthcare, energy, and other everyday essentials.Improve healthcare access

As a physician, I will work to expand primary and preventive care, lower prescription drug costs, strengthen care for seniors and working families, and support policies that improve long-term health outcomes.Restore trust in government

I support stronger ethics laws, greater transparency in campaign finance and government decision-making, and a government that is more accountable, responsive, and focused on results for the people of Hawaiʻi.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am especially passionate about policies that lower Hawaiʻi’s cost of living, expand access to healthcare, and strengthen government accountability. As a physician, I care deeply about improving primary and preventive care, lowering prescription drug costs, supporting seniors and working families, and addressing chronic diseases before they become more serious and expensive. I am also focused on housing affordability, supporting small businesses, strengthening public education and public safety, and making government more transparent, ethical, and accountable to the people it serves.

What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?
