In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
My name is Heather L. Sample. I am a lifelong advocate for working families, strong communities, and accountable government. Through my years of community involvement and public service, including serving as Chair of the Ashland County Democratic Party, I have worked to bring people together and ensure that everyday Ohioans have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives.
Like many families across our state, I understand the challenges of rising costs, stagnant wages, and an economy that too often leaves working people behind. I believe every Ohioan deserves the opportunity to earn a good living, afford a safe home, and provide for their family without constantly worrying about making ends meet.
I am a strong supporter of quality public education because every child, regardless of their zip code, deserves access to the resources and opportunities needed to succeed. I believe investing in our schools is one of the most important investments we can make in Ohio’s future.
I also believe government should work for the people—not special interests. Ohioans deserve leaders who are honest, transparent, and committed to ending the culture of corruption that has damaged public trust in Columbus.
That is why I am running for Ohio House of Representatives, District 67. I want to fight for affordable living, strengthen public education, restore trust in government, and ensure that Ohio remains a place where families can build a better future for generations to come.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Every child in Ohio deserves access to a high-quality public education, regardless of their zip code. Heather Sample believes strong public schools are the foundation of strong communities and a strong economy. She will fight to fully fund public education, support teachers and school staff, expand opportunities for students, and ensure taxpayer dollars are invested in neighborhood schools. Ohio’s children deserve leaders who put students first and recognize that investing in education is investing in our future.Ohio families are working harder than ever, yet too many are struggling to keep up with the rising costs of housing, groceries, healthcare, and utilities. Heather Sample believes that if you work hard, you should be able to afford a good life. She will fight for policies that lower everyday costs, support good-paying jobs, strengthen local economies, and provide tax relief for working families and seniors. Ohio should be a place where people can build a future—not just get by. It’s time to put working people first and make Ohio more affordable for everyone. The rights and freedoms guaranteed by the United States Constitution belong to every American. Heather Sample believes government should protect those rights—not pick and choose who gets them. She is committed to defending freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the right to vote, due process, equal protection under the law, and the fundamental liberties that define our democracy. Heather believes public officials take an oath to uphold the Constitution, and she will work every day to ensure those constitutional rights are protected for current and future generations of Ohioans.
