Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Harry J. Friel, Jr. served as an Eucharistic Minister and Lector at the Basilica Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace, where Saint Damien of Molokai was ordained, for five years. Harry graduated 17th Class of Honolulu Police Department's Citizens Police Academy giving the commencement speech. Harry worked as Chief of Staff and Legislative Aide to two Hawaii State Representatives at the Hawaii State Capitol. Harry co-hosted talk radio on KWAI for three years. Harry worked as a manager at Cades Schutte law firm, he was named employee of the month in his first month of hire. Harry volunteered for three Hawaii homeless organizations. Harry was given a break at Sony Corporation of America by President Michael Schulhof who co-invented the compact disc and aquired CBS Records and Columbia Pictures for Sony. Harry also met advising PlayStation co founder Peter Dille. Harry testified at the Neil Blaisdell Center for Nation to Nation Recognition before the United States Senate Indian Affairs Committee. Harry served on Hawaii Republican Party Platform Committee casting the one vote to keep party pro-life. Harry addressed the Hawaii Republican Party Convention at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Promoting the general welfare according to the United States Constitution helping the poor and homeless. Securing conscription to fight at home and abroad. Limited government, fiscal conservatism, personal liberty. Strong faith based traditional values. Religious institutions to practice their faith without undue government intervention. Family being the foundation to a strong society. Providing each American to pursue their dream while riding the Honolulu Rail to their destinations.
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
I look up to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. No love greater then to lay ones life down for a friend Jesus lived and taught love and peace. I am a Catholic and served in Hawaii at the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace as an Eucharistic Minister and Lector for five years volunteering for three homeless organizations like Jesus.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
Truth, Excellent relationship with people in service and Jesus. Wisdom to discern what is pleasing to Our Heavenly Father.
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
Honest, hard working, researcher. I listen very carefully to all sides of a story. Acting like the electorate in leading Hawaii forward.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
Accomplish will of God to best of ability. Defuel Red Hill storage facilities.
What legacy would you like to leave?
Gave his best at all times. Led others to the Catholic faith.
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
Elected Great Valley High School Class President and serving as Class President at Shippensburg University where I obtained my BA in History. Also appointed Shippensburg Universities first student director of governmental relations since it's inception in 1871
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
East Whiteland Township laborer during summer in college. I cut the grass at all the parks in East Whiteland Township. I laid blacktop on roads needing repair also applied cold patch on potholes. Keep drains clean of debris

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?
Overcoming cancer. I am a cancer survivor.
What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?
Need for conscription. Education, food supplies in that Hawaii only has an estimated three day food supply if there is some kind of emergency. I will work to secure water, food, shelter, medicine for the people of Hawaii.
What are your thoughts on term limits?
Seems more of an issue nowdays. If there is not proper representation the situation needs to somehow be resolved.
What qualities does the U.S. Senate possess that makes it unique as an institution?
Two Senators represent each state. Sole power to try all impeachments. Draft legislation, advise President on foreign policy, articulate on the floor important issues facing nation. Introduce legislation to help Hawaii.
Do you believe that it’s beneficial for senators to have previous experience in government or politics?
Yes. Interpersonal skills are of the utmost importance. I am a member of Sigma Tau Gamma National Fraternity and it has helped me tremendously. I worked at the Hawaii State Capitol as legislative Aide and Chief of Staff to two Hawaii State Representatives serving the people of Hawaii with correspondence and phone calls and reporting to Hawaii Neighborhood boards in Kapolei and Foster Village monthly.
What do you think of the filibuster?
Good. The ability to call the legislative body to attention regarding an important issue everyone should know about.
Is there a particular senator, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?
There are many in the history of the United States Senate. I emulate President John F. Kennedy.

How would you evaluate a judicial nominee?
Carefully on proper interpretation of the United States Constitution.
What kind of relationships would you build with other senators?
Lifelong. I get along well with both sides of the isle. Both Democrats and Republicans. I will use my multifaceted leadership skills to advance the United States Senate and the United States of America.

Yes.

Secure Conscription For Our United States Armed Forces. To Shelter Homeless Veterans, Homeless, To Help The Poor. Listen To My Constituency And Legislate On Wide Range Of Issues.

The United States of America is only as strong as our weakest link. In this difficult time, to reach out to Democrats and provide transitional shelters, assistance to come off of addictions, continue food stamp benefits that infuse funds to the economy to those who qualify in need.
