In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Griselda is a Chicago native who has dedicated her career to serving the public by providing crisis mental health services. Griselda understands the struggles of everyday Illinoisans through her work, as she supports families and individuals in meeting their needs and provides compassion and grace for their humanity while advocating for them in a system that is fundamentally not working, neglecting the needs of families in underserved communities who deserve to thrive and live a life with dignity that is safe for all.

Griselda is a first generation college graduate from immigrant parents who understands the struggles of living within a system that inherently maintains oppression, and has always had a passion for justice where true equity and equality exists. Griselda has been known to go above and beyond for families, because for her, that level of care is simply the bare minimum: people should already be treated with the utmost care.

Griselda looks to provide her skills and understanding of the system from a mental health perspective that is not separate from the economic and political framework needed to restructure and support families and communities. Her vision is a society that meets people's needs with the support of their government, rather than leaving them dependent on it without real growth. This means effectively utilizing that support so individuals and communities alike can grow, building a better culture and way of life for all of Illinois.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Community-Led Leadership

I use the leverage of elected office to serve communities, not build a career. The people govern the public servant, not the other way around, and success means communities growing more capable and independent, not just votes in my favor.Access, Not Austerity

Everyone deserves housing, healthcare, and fair wages, not a system that funds endless war while neglecting its own people. I'll fight to redirect resources toward the needs of workers and families here at home, not corporate profit or military contracts abroad.A System That Should Serve, Not Neglect

Our current system fundamentally fails families, especially in underserved communities. I'm running to ensure healthcare, housing, safety, and dignity are treated as rights everyone deserves, not privileges left to scarcity or corporate interest.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Mental Health Access

Housing Justice

Healthcare for All

Social Service Programs & Welfare

Ballot Access & Electoral Reform

Justice System Restructuring

Anti-Militarism — ending U.S. military funding to foreign governments that commit human rights violations, and redirecting that spending toward domestic needs

BDS Rights — opposing anti-BDS laws that criminalize the constitutionally protected right to boycott

Money Out of Politics — opposing corporate lobbying and big money in politics, so elected officials answer to communities, not donors
