In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I’m Greg Hill — a husband, father of four, small business owner, and lifelong Michigander running for State Senate to bring a more grounded, people-first approach to government.
I grew up in White Lake and studied education at Central Michigan University before returning home to raise a family and build a small business with my wife. Our roots run deep across this district — from our first home in Independence Township, to my wife growing up in Metamora, to our business in Lake Orion, and now raising our kids in Oxford. I’ve coached youth sports in Lake Orion, Oxford, and Brandon, and I’ve spent most of my life living, working, and investing in the communities that make up the new 23rd district.
Like many families, we’ve faced rising costs, economic uncertainty, and the everyday challenges of raising kids. And I’ve heard the same message over and over from people across our community: they feel unheard, divided, and priced out of the life they’re working hard to build.
I’m not a career politician — I’m someone who believes we can do better. That means focusing on common-sense solutions, standing up for working families, and bringing more honesty and humanity back into public service — with people valued over parties and PACs.
My campaign is built on a simple idea: listen first, lead with heart, and work together to move Michigan forward.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Make Michigan More Affordable for Working Families
My campaign is focused on making everyday life more affordable for working families across Michigan. That means addressing the rising cost of groceries, housing, utilities, and energy that is putting pressure on household budgets. I support policies that strengthen energy independence, reduce unnecessary costs, and bring long-term stability to family finances. When families are forced to make hard tradeoffs every month, it affects everything — from mental health to opportunity. We need practical, common-sense solutions that ease the burden on working people and ensure Michigan is a place where families can not just get by, but build a stable future.Create Opportunity Through Responsible Capitalism and Strong Local Communities
Michigan’s future depends on expanding opportunity through strong local communities and a fair, responsible economy. I believe in responsible capitalism — where businesses, workers, and communities all have a stake each others success. That means supporting small and mid-sized businesses, strengthening local agriculture, and ensuring workers are valued, not overlooked. It also means investing in education, public safety, and mental health so people can thrive in every part of life. When our economy works for everyone — not just the largest interests — we create real opportunity for families to build stable careers and stay rooted in their communities.Restore Trust and Put People Back at the Center of Government
Too many people feel like government no longer listens to them. I’m running to change that by putting people — not parties or special interests — back at the center of decision-making. That means greater transparency, accountability, and a commitment to honest communication with the public. It also means protecting the places and resources we all share, from our natural environment to our local communities. I believe leadership should be rooted in service, not politics. My approach is simple: listen first, lead with integrity, and make decisions based on what is best for the people we represent.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am passionate about public policy that improves quality of life for Michigan families in practical, everyday ways. That includes making life more affordable so people can live with dignity and not feel constantly stretched by the cost of groceries, housing, utilities, and energy. I care about strengthening public schools, supporting mental health resources, and ensuring communities are safe and connected. I am also focused on building a strong local economy that supports small businesses and workers through responsible capitalism, where success is shared more broadly. At its core, my focus is helping people not just get by, but be able to enjoy life and feel secure in their future.
