Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am a longtime resident of Manatee County, a small business owner, and a former broadcast journalist with more than 20 years of experience in television news. I worked as a reporter, producer, and anchor, covering issues that affect local communities and holding public officials accountable.
Today, I operate a financial services and insurance business, where I work directly with individuals and families on Medicare, Social Security, and retirement planning. That work has given me firsthand insight into the financial and healthcare challenges many people face.
I have been active in the community through voter registration and civic engagement efforts. I am the immediate past president of the Manatee County Democratic Black Caucus and previously served as vice chair of the Manatee County Democratic Party.
My background in journalism, small business, and community involvement has shaped my understanding of public policy and the needs of the district.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
I believe our political system has been rigged in favor of the ultra-wealthy, well-connected, and large corporations—while too many working families struggle to keep up. That didn’t happen by accident; it reflects years of decisions that have moved power away from the public.
And we’re proving there’s another way. I’m the first candidate in this race to collect and verify the required number of voter petitions to qualify for the ballot—powered by real people, not big money.
I’m running because Congress is supposed to serve as a check on that power, not reinforce it, and it’s time to restore balance and accountability.I am committed to protecting and strengthening programs that millions of Americans rely on, including Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and services for veterans and people with disabilities. In my work, I’ve seen firsthand how essential these programs are for seniors and working families trying to make ends meet. I believe Congress has a responsibility to keep these commitments and ensure these programs remain strong, stable, and accessible for current and future generations. I will also fight to eliminate programs that cause harm. We must get ICE off our streets and shut down those detestable detention centers. My career in journalism was built on telling the truth, asking tough questions, and holding those in power accountable. That experience shaped how I approach public service. I believe elected officials should be willing to stand up, challenge powerful interests when necessary, and advocate for the people they represent. That commitment—to truth, accountability, and putting people first—guides my campaign.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am particularly passionate about healthcare access, retirement security, and expanding economic opportunity for working families. Through my work in financial services, I’ve seen how difficult it can be for individuals to afford coverage, manage prescription costs, and plan for retirement. Those experiences have reinforced my belief that public policy should prioritize people and ensure that essential programs like Social Security and Medicare remain strong and reliable. I believe everyone should have access to healthcare, and I support efforts to move toward a system where coverage is available to all, regardless of income.
I am also deeply focused on government accountability, transparency and fighting for a living wage.
