Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
RULE OF LAW: as a lawyer, I demand enforcement of the law, no matter who you are. I deliver pocket-sized Constitutions to the audience at events, so we can review the foundation of our democracy. We discuss the plight to break free from being ruled by a king, to the establishment of a government in which "we, the people" have the power, and the right to demand enforcement of due process, 1st amendment rights to freedom of assembly, the press, and speech; 2nd amendment rights; 4th amendment protections against unreasonable search and seizures... all the rights and freedoms ignored by the current administration. As the U.S. celebrates 250 yrs of independence, now is the perfect time to renew our dedication to democracy.EQUITABLE ECONOMICS: AFFORDABILITY FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS.
*Produce policies that promote affordability for the middle class and small businesses: affordable quality health care; affordable housing; affordable childcare; fully funded public education, etc.
BLAST tax breaks for billionaires, scrap the cap on social security investments, and undo other inequitable policies that put billionaires before hardworking families.Protect those who cannot protect themselves or are particularly vulnerable:
1) children
2) victims of abuse
3) elders
4) persons who are differently abled: physically and/or mentally
5) Public schools: students, teachers, financing
6) the environment
7) small businesses
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
1) stop school shootings/support public schools
2) protect and promote access to affordable quality health care for all, including all forms of reproductive health care
3) demand accountability of our government officials: Epstein files to trials; ICE violations of fundamental human rights; undiscovered damage to Soc. Sec. by DOGE access to the server, reversal of "false news" and false narratives on social media: swift consequences for disseminating false information; reimburse slush finds used to pay of sex. assault allegations against politicians; etc.
4) fiscally responsibility in government, starting with campaign finance reform
5) Supreme Court Reform
6) term limits
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
My parents: endured hardships and sacrifice to provide a better life than they had to the next generations
Melanie Stansbury and the other lady leaders in the Dem. Women's Caucus: they work harder, smarter, and together with goals that are for the overall good... putting people over profits, holding perpetrators accountable, demanding and defending democracy
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
authentic, driven, honest, persuasive, responsive representative
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
obtain results that improve the quality of life for constituents
What legacy would you like to leave?
For my girls: create a world which they believe is suited for them to have their own children. Currently one daughter believes our planet is far too close to the point of no return and cannot support future generations; both girls believe they cannot afford to raise a child; and both girls do not trust that our government cares about children... having lived through a generation of school shootings with no corrective course by government.
For fellow lady leaders... Honor RBG: lead in a way that others will want to follow, speak up for what is right, even when your voice shakes, be active in the seat at the table where the important decisions are made... and do what is right even when no one is looking!
Never use the promise, "I will fight" for x, y, z . A fight always produces at least one loser... someone very motivated for a rematch. I prefer persuade or guide as a means to get results which can leave room for others to join rather than creating fighters on the other side.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
either keeping score at a bowling alley or cleaning up outside dairy queen: 6-7th grade
What is something that has been a struggle in your life?
Being proactive in my physical/mental health
What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?
The powers of Congress is the topic of the 1st article of the U.S. Constitution, because it was the highest priority in creating a democracy after fleeing a country ruled by a king. The House of Representatives with 435 members is based on the notion that ALL communities across the country will have representation in government. The power of the representatives comes from "we, the people" we represent. Having 435 members is intended to block out extremists on either side having power. The number of votes needed to pass policy should eliminate radical results, usually endorsed by those on the fringe.
What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?
Reversing the damage of this last administration
Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?
Yes, as a 30 year family law attorney, mediator, and decision-maker, I believe we have more in common than what separates us. Starting with a foundation based on what we have in common is a great way to obtain results... while it may not be everything our constituents want it is better than standing on political promises without gaining any results.
What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?
Robert E. Kinney, Retired Judge
Neal ("Chip") Nielsen, Retired Judge*
Attorney Dean Dietrich, Former State Bar President*
Previous republican/independent voters.
What was the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember?
Someone burned a cross in my friend's front yard while I was there... it was a far too recent part of historical events
