Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am George Melville Johnson and I’m running for the United States Congress in the third congressional district of Georgia. I have 36 years of experience as a federal employment attorney representing federal employees against the federal government. I have 30 years experience, holding offices and organizing in the Democratic Party of Georgia. Change must come to Washington now! I have a lifetime of experiencing political activism. Change must come to Washington now, starting with this office. This office cannot be bought, it is by the people, for the people and of the people. I support an immediate end to the war In the Middle East. Only Congress can declare war, and it has not. I support a livable wage, a major increase in infrastructure funding, including schools, roads, and sewer. I support community decisions concerning data centers. I support a livable wage, a woman’s right to choose, and a universal healthcare system.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Our district is growing exponentially. A livable wage is essential for individuals and families. All residents of the district deserve a decent quality of life. This includes proper medical care, including hospitals. four of our counties do not have hospitals, and emergency and urgent care is widely unavailable. Teachers deserve salaries, high enough to support their families. Small businesses must not be sacrificed to the advantages of large corporations, the corporations are the cornerstone of our economy nonetheless. Access to higher education, needs to be strengthened, and the cost of higher public education needs to be affordable without the use of extensive student loans.Seniors need protection from fraud, abuse, isolation and exploitation. I support higher caps on Social Security, including higher Medicare caps. I’ll hardly fight for no Social Security reductions in payments and higher cost of living adjustments.I support the final approval by Congress of the Equal Rights Amendment and The Equality Act. The American Bar Association issued a resolution in 2025 stating that the ERA was now the law of the land and asking Congress to ratify it. I Support legislative standards that confirm the law as outlined in Roe V Wade.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I’ve spent 35 years representing veterans in employment claims against the United States government. I come from a military family, but defense spending must be cut to free resources for education, business improvement, healthcare, and Social Security. I support the institution of DEI standards in all other key components of government that have been erased by the current administration and DOGE. I’m passionate about the rights of the LGBT community and all other minority communities. We are the people. We are one. E Pluribus Unum. From many, we make one and have a single voice.
