Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Hi, I'm Emily! A proud community advocate, small-business champion, and someone who's already been working hard for our communities. As an Executive Director of a Chamber of Commerce and a City Councilwoman, I've spent years fighting for lower taxes, strong local economies, volunteering at our schools, and always committed to working together to create positive impact.

As a proud Rotarian, NAACP member, and serving on our local food pantry board, I understand the importance of giving back and ensuring everyone in our communities has the resources they need. Sending me to Topeka on your behalf guarantees a community-centered vote and representation.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Community commitments are where my journey started and where it'll continue to lead in Topeka. We must prioritize people over party to help bring relief, change, and a bright future to ALL Kansans.You can always count on me to work with any colleague to pass sensible legislation that brings real benefits to Kansas communities. I've spent years working with peers I disagree with to still get the job done in a big way. We are better together!Serving our communities day in and day out makes me easily accessible to you! Conversations are how we listen, learn, and create change. You can always count on me to be available to you and work hard to make your voice heard!

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Affordability: We must eliminate the state sales tax on essentials for women & babies, and other essentials for families, to keep more money in their pockets. Let's also strengthen our property tax relief programs for seniors and veterans! We also must expand our small business programs, as Kansas is a thriving ecosystem of local businesses.

Education: The state needs to adhere to the education formula to fully fund public education, including special education. This not only benefits our children's futures but also alleviates the local taxes set by the local school boards.

Infrastructure: Kansas is behind on investments in our crumbling infrastructure. Let's hold big development accountable to set these up for success.
