Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Elliott Herneker is a candidate for the Maryland House of Delegates in District 34A and a lifelong Harford County resident. He graduated from Harford Technical High School, earned an associate degree in political science from Harford Community College, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland Global Campus.

Elliott works as a supervisor at UPS in Aberdeen, where he has spent the past five years gaining firsthand experience with the challenges facing working families. He currently serves as Chairman of the Harford County Young Republicans and has been actively involved in local community and political engagement.

He also interned for former Governor Larry Hogan’s 2024 U.S. Senate campaign, where he gained experience in statewide outreach and constituent engagement.

Elliott is running to bring a practical, common-sense approach to Annapolis and to ensure local residents have a stronger, more responsive voice in state government.

The rising cost of living is the number one issue facing families in Harford County. From energy bills to groceries to housing, too many people feel like they are falling behind. Elliott is focused on practical solutions that increase transparency, reduce unnecessary costs, and ensure that state policies prioritize working families. He believes government should be focused on helping people afford to live and stay in their communities—not making it harder.Harford County residents value the character of their communities, and Elliott believes growth should be thoughtful and responsible—not rushed or uncontrolled. At the same time, many young people and families are being priced out of the housing market. Elliott supports a balanced approach that protects communities while improving affordability by reducing unnecessary permitting delays, encouraging appropriate development in the right areas, and supporting first-time homebuyers. His focus is on maintaining quality of life while ensuring future generations can stay in the county.A strong local economy is key to opportunity and long-term stability. Elliott supports policies that encourage business growth, reduce unnecessary regulatory burdens, and strengthen the environment for small businesses. He believes in working with local economic development leaders to attract and retain jobs in Harford County so residents have access to good-paying careers close to home. His goal is to expand opportunity while keeping the county a great place to live and work.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am most passionate about issues that directly impact the daily lives of residents in Harford County, especially cost of living, economic opportunity, housing affordability, and public safety.

As someone who works, I understand the challenges many families face with rising expenses, including energy costs, groceries, and housing. I am committed to supporting policies that improve affordability, increase transparency, and ensure that state decisions prioritize working individuals and families.

I am also passionate about strengthening the local economy by supporting small businesses, encouraging responsible investment, and expanding access to good-paying jobs.
