In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am a former local elected official (10 years) and Charlie Baker Republican. I am also the mother of four adult children (including one with autism), an attorney, and a teacher.
I am running for State Treasurer to address three crises in Massachusetts: affordability, transparency, and responsible fiscal management. Taxpayers deserve a Treasurer who treats every public dollar with the same care Massachusetts families use to manage their own household budgets.
The Treasurer's Office shouldn’t be partisan or ideological. Instead, it should focus on protecting retirement security, safeguarding taxpayer investments, promoting financial literacy, and effective government operations. I am committed to restoring trust in state government through responsible fiscal stewardship and common-sense leadership.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Transparency: The Treasurer's first responsibility is to protect taxpayers' money. I will prioritize transparency, accountability, and sound financial management so that every dollar entrusted to the Commonwealth is invested wisely and managed responsibly. I will cut wasteful spending (including luxury travel and excess rental space) at the Treasurer’s Office. Massachusetts families need a Treasurer who focuses on common-sense financial stewardship, not political activism.Affordability: The Treasurer is a powerful office (just behind the Governor), managing hundreds of billions of State assets. The Treasurer controls the Lottery, the largest single source of local aid, which has a direct impact on property taxes (and family budgets). As Treasurer, I will be a strong voice on Beacon Hill for increased local aid to fund frontline services: public safety, education, and roads and sidewalks.
Another part of affordability is economic opportunity begins and financial empowerment. As Treasurer, I will strengthen adult financial literacy initiatives, expand access to savings and investment programs, actively return unclaimed property, and let residents know about the financial resources available through the Office.Responsible Fiscal Management: The Treasurer's Office plays a vital role in protecting pension systems, veterans' benefits, college savings programs, and the long-term financial health of Massachusetts. I will protect these critical programs while ensuring that the state’s investment decisions protect both taxpayers and retirement fund beneficiaries. I will not allow these programs to be raided to advance political agendas.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
As evidenced by my decade in local government, I am passionate about good government that is transparent, responsive, and fiscally responsible. This means protecting retirement security and veterans’ services, promoting financial literacy, and protecting taxpayer dollars. I believe that government should live within its means, safeguard public investments, and create opportunities for individuals and businesses to succeed. I also believe the Treasurer's Office should remain focused on its core financial responsibilities (not political agendas), while providing outstanding service to every resident of Massachusetts.

She will work just as hard to ensure that your hard-earned tax dollars are used wisely – not wasted on political vendettas, ideological agendas, or political favors. Her plan of action:Fiscal AccountabilityElizabeth has proven she can deliver balanced budgets without relying on reserve funds. As a Belmont Select Board Member, she delivered a revenue-based budget for FY2026 and created the Multi-Year Budget Advisory Committee to ensure long-term fiscal planning.Implement revenue-based budgeting for all treasury operationsEliminate wasteful spending and redundant programsTransparencyMassachusetts taxpayers have a right to know how their money is being spent. Elizabeth will create the most transparent treasury office in state history.Disinfect the State House by opening the books and reporting to you.Root out corruption and cronyism: Hire the best staff who will deliver for YOU, not for people they knowGrow The State Pension FundElizabeth successfully advocated for the investment of 100% of Belmont's Retirement System assets into the state-run Pension Reserves Investment Trust, achieving greater efficiency and higher returns. She will bring this same reformer's focus to managing the state's pension funds.Maximize returns on state pension funds and investmentsMake it easier for cities and towns to join the state-run investment system, achieving greater local returns.Taxpayer ProtectionThe State Treasurer must be a fierce advocate for taxpayers. Elizabeth will fight waste, fraud, and abuse while protecting taxpayer interests.Put the interests of taxpayers first – Elizabeth won't abuse public funds to reward her cronies or pursue personal animus lawsuits.Return more dollars to local governments, where they can work for you— Elizabeth Dionne's campaign website (August 28, 2026)Note: This text is quoted verbatim from the original source.
