Elda Luna-Nájera earned a bachelor's and a graduate degree from Arizona State University along with a doctorate in social work from the University of Southern California.[1] Her career experience includes working as a social worker.[2] She also served as the president of the Tolleson Union High School District.

Dr. Elda Luna-Nájera is a proud Arizonan, social worker, community leader, and lifelong advocate for working families. Raised in an immigrant family that valued hard work, perseverance, and compassion, Dr. Luna-Nájera became the first in her family to attend college. This journey shaped her deep understanding of the challenges facing immigrant families, working-class communities, and underrepresented voices in Arizona.

Dr. Luna-Nájera's professional career spans over two decades working with families and children in nonprofit settings and public education. She is certified as a school social worker with the Arizona Department of Education and is licensed as a master social worker. She has worked as a school social worker and, most recently, as a high school administrator overseeing school social work programming for students and staff and supporting unhoused and foster-care students. Dr. Luna-Nájera has worked with victims of domestic violence, families experiencing homelessness, and in behavioral health. She has been a longtime resident of Legislative District 22 for over 23 years. Her five children attend or have graduated from public schools in the district. Dr. Luna-Nájera earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Arizona State University. She holds a Doctorate in Social Work from the University of Southern California.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Representative Luna-Nájera is running to continue representing LD 22 because she believes our families deserve more. As a mother of five, she knows firsthand that our children need better opportunities and a brighter future. District 22 deserves a leader who understands the daily realities of its people. As your State Representative, she will continue to bring her lived experience, professional expertise, and unwavering commitment to being your voice at the Arizona State Legislature.
