In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I'm focused on affordable housing including utilities, affordable and accessible healthcare, protecting our public schools, seniors and veterans,

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Healthcare: As the federal government cuts benefits for veterans and working families, the state must fill in the gaps. I am committed to working across the aisle to ensure all Arizonans can access affordable, quality healthcare.Housing/Utilities: We need meaningful reforms to ensure that our seniors on fixed incomes can age in place and that families, rather than investors, can buy homes. Our communities and the farmers who feed them deserve affordable water and electricity. I will fight for legislation to develop practical solutions that balance the needs of residents and farmers with economic growth that increases our state revenue.Public Schools: When it comes to Empowerment Scholarship Accounts (ESAs) millions of our tax dollars have been siphoned away from our public schools; some have fraudulently been used to pay for Las Vegas vacations or lingerie. Investing in our public-school students is investing in our economy.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am personally passionate about protecting veterans. My first husband, John, served in Vietnam and was a POW who was able to escape. However, he was not able to escape his nightmares, and he died by suicide. Honoring John is one reason I first got involved in advocating for veterans. My current husband, Hank, is a veteran who served in the US Army and is also an American Legion Adjutant. I'm the Post Events Chairperson. I organize all Post events, including the annual Memorial Day Parade, which is in its 53rd year. I have planned it for the past 4 years; we also hold a large Veterans Day Ceremony, which I have planned for the past 5 years.
