In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Edwina comes from a long line of global citizens and is an immigrant who came from the Uk 15 years ago and fell in love with the state. She is a business owner, entrepreneur, founder of a faith based nonprofit as well as having years of global business experience in China, Japan, South Korea, Europe and the Uk. She calls South Carolina home and is embedded in local and civic life as an avid ballroom dancer and Rotarian. She teaches older adults and plays flute with a group at local memory care units.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
I want to revive and invigorate the office so that it can become an asset for the people of South Carolina to help them create small businesses, crack down on scams and fraud and make government more transparent.I want the office of Secretary of State to be an engine of opportunity and growth for all of South Carolina. I want people, anywhere in the state, to be able to access the office as a one stop shop to create a business or nonprofit in a simple process. The office should be a place where entrepreneurs can access education, grants and support to make their business ideas reality and allow the state to thrive and create generational wealth and stability. We are living in a time when federal government is carrying out less oversight of businesses and charities so it is falling on the state to be more proactive in keeping people safe. I want to expand the duties of Secretary of State to be more of a watchdog where people can understand who the bad actors are, who own businesses in the State and who is using money to influence politicians. Transparency is the key to keeping us all safe from scams and fraud.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I’m passionate about public policies that protect working families, strengthen democracy, and keep government transparent and accountable. That includes fair elections and voting access, strong ethics and anti-corruption enforcement, consumer protection against fraud and scams, and corporate accountability so businesses play by the rules. I also care deeply about expanding opportunity for small businesses, supporting workforce development, and ensuring government services are accessible, modern, and responsive to the people.
