In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am a mom, an immigrant, and someone deeply committed to public service.
I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Counseling at Wayne State University while working full-time as a Reading Interventionist at Michigan Collegiate Elementary School in Roseville. I am fortunate to share my life with my husband, Astrit, whose hard work and determination have helped shape our family’s journey.
I moved to America more than 14 years ago and have proudly called Macomb County home ever since. Like many families, we came seeking opportunity, stability, and a better future. Those experiences have shaped my belief that everyone deserves a fair chance to succeed.
I am running for the Michigan State Senate because I care deeply about our community and want to be a strong voice for the people who call it home. I understand the challenges families face because I have lived them. In Lansing, I will put people first, listen to our communities, and fight to strengthen public education and support working families.
My story is one of perseverance, hard work, and hope. I am running to ensure every family has the opportunity to build a better future here in Michigan.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
1. Putting People First
Families are struggling with rising costs for housing, groceries, utilities, and healthcare. I will fight for policies that make life more affordable and put working people ahead of special interests.2. Strong Schools, Strong Communities
As a Reading Interventionist and graduate student, I know education changes lives. I will work to strengthen public schools, support teachers, expand mental health resources, and ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed.3. Opportunity Through Hard Work
As an immigrant, mother, and working professional, I understand the value of hard work and perseverance. I will fight for good-paying jobs, support small businesses and family farms, health care, improve infrastructure, and create opportunities for future generations.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am most passionate about policies that directly impact working families and shape opportunity for the next generation. As an educator, I care deeply about strengthening public education—supporting teachers, expanding literacy and mental health resources, and making sure every child has access to a strong foundation for success.
I am also focused on economic policies that make life more affordable for families, including good-paying jobs, fair wages, and support for small businesses and family farms that keep our communities strong.
Finally, I care about protecting the rights and dignity of every person, including access to healthcare, safeguarding voting rights, and ensuring that communities like ours have a real voice in the decisions.
