In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Douglas Deitch:

Born San Francisco, December 12. 1948 ... Dia de La Virgen de Guadalupe

Education: Stanford BA /wDistinction Political Science (1967-70), Stanford Law School JM/1974 (received both BA and Law JM in record 5 year time.)

In 1970 at 21 years of age, my high school sweetheart Elaine and I eloped to Mazatlan from Stanford and then moved to our present mountain home here in the absolute corner of Aptos Rancho in 1974, where we have been ever since. We now include our children Alisha 42, her husband Clay, Dakota 18, Hudson 15, and our son Jake 40, all Monterey Bay natives.

I am very concerned about our Monterey Bay regional water and numerous other unaddressed Federal issues here.

I have unsuccessfully been trying for well over 24 years (http://www.samfarr.info) to meet with my Congressman about our regional 19th District wide groundwater commons overdraft seawater intrusion tragedy http://.www.begentlewiththeearth.org , disaster, and food security concern, and solutions and other pressing issues like immediate DACA and other immigration/safety legislation , Expansion of UCSC to Watsonville, NDAA, EMP-CME , Oroville possible Golden Gate dams issues, twin tunnels, Monterey Bay Estuarine National Monument http://.www.thebestthatmoneycantbuy.com http://.www.dougdeitch.com

Mahatma Ghandi: "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

"Eudurance" ... The story of Ernest Shackleton

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

An oath sworn elected official's Number 1 priority and duty is to follow our Constitution and laws promulgated under it AND maintain Rule of Law and the health and safety of ALL members of our Community.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

An oath sworn elected official's Number 1 priority and duty is to follow our Constitution and laws promulgated under it AND maintain Rule of Law and the health and safety of ALL members of our Community.

What legacy would you like to leave?

To leave our place and my office just even ever so slightly better than I found it.

What is your favorite book? Why?

"Eudurance" ... The story of Ernest Shackleton

He never gave up.

The guy whose motto is "Truth, Justice, and The American Way!"

What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?

It's Speaker of the House is second in line to the Presidency.

Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?

It completely depends on the prior life experience of the candidate.

In my case, my lack of any "experience" and being "the best that money can't buy", is my greatest asset that I will bring to this job starting June 8, 2022, ... because in my political "career" as a candidate, continuously since 1994, I have and will never accept any monetary contributions.

What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?

Law and Order!

If you are not a current representative, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?

No.

I seek consideration as and election to Speaker of the House in 2023.

What are your thoughts on term limits?

Terms should be limited to 3 two year terms in US Congress and 2 six year terms in US Senate (or any combination thereof which cannot exceed a total of 18 years in either US Congress and/or US Senate.)

Is there a particular representative, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?

No.

Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?

Yes.

The various and too numerous and chronic for decades "RICO eligible" murders/crime and mayhem involving our youth here in the Monterey Bay and Bay Area named Tyler Tenorio, Carl Reimer, Joey Mendoza, Erick Lopez et at ... which are just simply ignored by our US Attorney General which should instead be aggressively prosecuted.

Tell us your favorite joke.

Question: ¿Sabes cómo le dicen a un judío (masculine) que vuela un avión?

Response: No!

Answer: ¡Un piloto, racista!

Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?

Yes.

Of course!

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at that time?

Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?

Yes ... all wrongful deaths and damages, particularly to innocent youths in our 20th District (and there are far too many of them), directly caused by undocumented aliens on the "ICE Hold" lists who have already been arrested, are in custody, and are then illegally released by local LE and other oath sworn elected and other public servants under the false and null "authority" supposedly conferred on these also now criminals/aiders and abettors under the false and illegal guise of "State Sanctuary" laws, authority, and other similar fictions and nullities. What to do? Please see: www.dougdeitch.com , my Press Release #1 on this specific issue.[4]
