In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am a retired Business Systems Analyst and technical writer with a degree in Business Administration. Over the course of my career, I have spent decades solving complex problems and helping organizations operate more effectively, including serving as a consultant to the Idaho Transportation Department and the City of Boise.
I am running for the Colorado House because I believe government should do a few things, do them very well, and do them efficiently. Most importantly, government should protect the individual rights of its citizens rather than serve the interests of special-interest groups.
That means restoring Second Amendment rights in Colorado, encouraging school choice so parents can provide their children with the education they need, and defending the constitutional rights of immigrants. It means protecting a woman's right to choose rather than having that choice imposed upon her—and respecting individual autonomy in other matters as well.
Ultimately, I believe the purpose of government is simple: to protect our rights and allow each of us the freedom to pursue happiness in our own way.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Everybody, everywhere, has hopes and dreams. Young adults, parents, hard-working employees, entrepreneurs, and retirees all want to build a better life and make something of themselves. Whether you were born here or came to Colorado from another state or country, you are here because you want the opportunity to pursue those hopes and dreams.
Most people aren't looking for a handout. They simply want a fair shot—a chance to compete, work hard, and earn their own slice of the pie.
Government's job is not to guarantee your success, but to protect your rights and then get out of your way.
As your next representative, I will work to keep government from standing between you and your dreams.Politics today is increasingly divisive. Our major social media platforms thrive on fear, outrage, and distrust of the “other side.”
But when I talk to real people in our legislative district, I see something very different. I’ve knocked on 413 doors so far, and do you know what kind of people I’ve met? Nice people. People with families, dreams, challenges, and stories of their own. People who may disagree about politics but who generally want the same basic things: to live their lives, pursue their goals, and be left alone as much as possible.
I believe we have more to fear from the fear-mongers than from one another.
Let’s learn to live and let live. As your representative, I will promote a government that does precisely that. Our divisive political climate often tells us that you must vote against the other guy. If you don’t, you’re warned, they’ll win—and catastrophe will follow.
But let’s be honest: your vote alone won’t decide this race. And when elections become primarily about voting against someone, candidates can escape scrutiny. They don’t necessarily have to tell you what they would do; they only have to convince you how terrible the other side is.
This time, I encourage you to try something different. Take a look at all the candidates. Examine their positions, priorities, and their vision for Colorado. Then vote for the one whose positions most closely reflect your own values and aspirations.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
1. The right of parents to choose the kind of educational experience they want for their children.
2. The rights of all people to pursue happiness, whether they are from here, from another state, or from another country.
3. The Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
4. The right to choose what you do with your body.
5. The right to keep what you earn.
In short, I am passionate about all the rights, all the time, for all the people.
